“Perfect in every way.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

It's been 2-3 years since our last visit and we are delighted to report that Raines Close is as wonderful as ever. Though only a couple of minutes' walk from the main square, the Guest House has a tranquil air, with beautiful gardens. Everything about the place is clean and pleasing to the eye. The rooms (we've stayed in more than one over the years) are extremely comfortable, containing all the amenities you could need. David and Geraldine are always pleasant, charming and accommodating. As a wheat-intolerant person I'm always grateful to them for having gluten-free bread in stock, so that the already fabulous breakfast is even better for me. My wife and I can't say enough good things about Raines House. It thoroughly merits its 4-star status, and we hope to stay there again whenever we can in the coming years.

Room Tip: All the rooms are equally comfortable and well-furnished, with great views.

Thank you for your very kind comments. We always endeavour to maintain a high standard of hospitality - yet nothing formal - and it is always a pleasure to welcome back past visitors. But suggest you don't leave it three years until your next visit - we may have possibly retired!!

As far as guest houses go, this is one of the best being set in a stunning location. David and Geraldine are so friendly with an amazing Vista and beautifully stocked garden. Nothing is too much for them to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and the rooms are very clean and turned down each day. The breakfast choices cater for all denominations of palate with choices of walking routes too numerous to mention being right on the doorstep too. The centre of Grassington village is within a two minutes walk with plenty to do there and good choices of local fayre a available. Highly recommended for a stay.

Stayed here for two nights whilst meeting friends and walking in the area. The room was lovely and thoughtfully appointed. Although the en-suite was slightly small for us, we had all that we needed for our stay. The room was cool and comfortable in spite of the unusually glorious hot weather. The food was wonderful with plenty of choice, both in fresh fruit and for the cooked breakfast. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating, offering an earlier or later breakfast time if required. The views from the rear garden were stunning and they even brought us out comfy chairs to sit on in the garden and offered coffee while we waited for our friends. A lovely stay and well recommended.

Stayed here last week. Great location, just two minutes walk into Grassington. The B&B is spotless, yet has a really warm nice feel. Stunning views of the fells from our room and the beautiful garden. Large choice for breakfast, the full English is really nice and filling - especially after a few wines the night before! Have stayed here a few times now, Geraldine and David are lovely friendly people. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Grassington!! Hope to see you soon.x

Many thanks for your wonderful comments. Now doing some research on where to find "silent wine" in Grassington, but you really do not have anything to worry about! We look forward to seeing you again next time!

Stayed only one night at Grassington festival. Double room was large enough, good furniture and views of the garden. Good recommendations for supper and 3 minute walk to festival. I needed an early breakfast which was accommodated and wide choice of breakfast. Fresh fruit especially good. Ample parking. Great venue for Grassington delights and will visit again

Room Tip: I had an ensuite room with views of front garden

Breakfast is a real treat at Raines Close. For the health conscious there is a wide selection of fruit and muesli and yoghurts and for those with an appetite there is of course a first rate cooked breakfast. There's a view out of the window, gentle music playing, and good conversation with your hosts who are friednly and knowledgeable about the area. And that's what makes a grea B&B I think, the quality of the hospitality, not just the room, and David and Geraldine could not have been more hospitable. Don't get me wrong, the room was fine, charming in fact, clean and comfortable, but the welcome is the thing I will remember for some time to come.

Raines Close is on Station road, and positioned perfectly for the start/end of the Tour de France cycle route from Grassington (go to the Dales tourist website for a list of day rides and routes). I was there during the Grassington Festival which was just great, a buzz and an atmostphere about the whole place that was just so relaxing. For the cyclist this a perfect place to stay, a garage to store bikes, and breakfast portions to suit the appetites of people setting out for a long day in the saddle. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Bathroom was small, so if you are grossly overweight or disabled, look elsewhere.

Thank you for your comments A. The room you occupied does have the smallest bathroom but is still adequate for the leanest of cyclists! Other rooms do have larger facilities. Enjoy Le Tour and we look forward to seeing you again next time.

I have just returned home after spending three nights at this superb place and it is the second time that my friend and I have stayed here whilst enjoying our annual walking weekend, again the accommodation was faultless! Perfect friendly hosts that really welcome you into their home, lovely breakfasts and set in the most amazing place. Stayed in the twin room downstairs where we had easy access to the garden which is perfect to watch all the birdlife, baby bunnies and a duck who was very interested in our bag of crisps!

Room Tip: Twin room downstairs has easy access to the beautifully maintained garden, perfect for sitting out o...
