“Weekend Break”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

We booked in here after reading its reviews. We came to Grassington for the Dickensian Festival arriving Friday. The breakfast is both wonderful and enormous, with Val going out of her way to fulfil our every need. We felt we were treated like house guests rather than paying customers.
Scar lodge is a rambling, wonderfully interesting house it is about 150 yards walk into the village main street down a narrow road, parking is just outside the door. We were free to come and go at leisure very useful on this particular weekend. Altogether a wonderful weekend break.

My wife and I have stayed with Val five times now this time with our friends from Switzerland and we all can honestly say it is a wonderful place to stay, ideal for visiting The Dales, excellent restaurants and lovely people. The two rooms, one being e suite at e excellent with plenty of character. The breakfast is wide ranging, you can have as little or as much as you want. Val is also a very creative artist and her pictures are well worth purchasing.

Room Tip: Both rooms are excellent, the one that isn't en suite has its own private bathroom there is also...

LIke the previous reviewer we have stayed at Scar Lodge on three occassions, all to coincide with the Dickensian Festival.
Val is the lady who runs the B & B, and there is not a more charming person that you would wish to meet in your life.
The guest house has an olde world charm to it, that is welcoming and tends to move away from the conventional.
The rooms are cosy and inviting. Because it is only a couple of hundred yards from the centre of Grassington, it is ideally situated to be close and yet not on top of the village.
Val does a lovely breakfast and is always very sympathetic to the needs of her guest.

Room Tip: Try for the room with the ensuite. However, the other is served very well with a great bathroon

My wife and I and friends have stayed with Val on a number of times and it really is a wonderful experience and one we can recommend. The rooms are excellent one being en suite the other having a separate private bathroom. There is a private up stairs lounge and the house is only five minutes walk from the town centre which is full of good eating places.
