“Well worth a look...”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We were very keen to visit St. Michael's Mount when planning our holiday and the place did not disappoint.

The castle is up a steep cobbled pathway and certainly comfortable footwear is needed but the walk up the mount is well worth it. The first thing is the beautiful views you get of the Cornish coastline and of the gardens below which unfortunately were not open on the day we visited.

Before you reach the castle walls there was a storyteller and lots of rugs where you get to hear about the giant of Marazion which was fun. Once inside the castle it operates a one-way flow for visitors which is good as the guide leaflet you are given gives you a brief outline of where you are standing. With each room there are laminated sheets with descriptions of the artifacts on show and there are some lovely oil paintings throughout.

Well worth a visit and found it was good value for money.

“Not really worth it”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

It looks quite nice from a distance and the views are quite nice from the top of the castle but we had to queue to get into the castle which took forever. Once inside it wasn't the most interesting place I just wanted to get to outside to see the view which was nice probably a lot nicer had the sun been shining. It definitely wasn't worth the £8 to go up unless you love castles or historic places, if it hadn't been for the long queue to get in it might have been a bit more enjoyable.

Many thanks for your review and sorry to hear that your experience caused you to only leave two stars.

You don't detail the precise day of your visit but we can get very busy at this time of year. However, we do have operational systems in place to ensure that any waiting times are kept to a minimum and, more importantly, to ensure that all of our visitors can enjoy their experience regardless of the time of year visited. I do appreciate that these systems may not have been to your personal expectations and any further feedback on how we can continually improve would be welcome.

In the meantime, thanks for your comments and we do hope to be able to warmly welcome you back in the future for a five star experience.

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We took a boat over as the tide was in over the causeway. It was a beautiful day weather wise, the sea was a turquoise blue and so very clear. We walked up to the castle , not for the faint hearted in flip flops, walking up the cobbled pathway. Coming down was worse. But it was definitely worth it when you got to the top. The castle is spectacular and so are the gardens. Worth every blister, stubbed toe .

“so good we went twice”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Loved... LOVED.... L O V E D St. Michaels Mount, one of my treasured memories I will have with me forever is of being here. Found the idea of having to wait till low tide to be accessible a fascinating concept and once over the causeway which is mostly all cobbles and quite uneven so some care is needed, you are met with a whole little "village" plus a magnificent castle looking down on everything (and all cobblestone pathways). We didnt visit the Castle, as we had our dog on holiday with us and you are not allowed to take them up there, but nevertheless, we loved St Michaels Mount and enjoyed our Cornish Cream Tea from the Sail Loft Restaurant. Will definately be returning here when we are next in Cornwall ~ hopefully not too long away, and will be hopefully visiting the Castle too
