“Gorgeous location!”
Reviewed 29 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

Gwern Cottage is in a glorious location, a few minutes walk from the sea and about 10 minutes pleasant walk to the attractive and interesting market town of Marazion.
The incredible castle on the Mount and the fascinating town of Penzance are close by, as well as great walks.
The cottage was clean and comfortable with a faint smell of polish, always welcome!
The upper bedroom is a lovely bright, airy room with views of the sea and a balcony to enjoy the sunsets.
The games room and large garden are great assets for children . The cottage had everything we needed ( 6 adults, 2 children ).
A couple of questions were answered swiftly and helpfully by the owner, who did his utmost to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Management Response
13 May 2018
Thank you for the review as feedback is important. I apologise that you had some issues during your stay- two cleaners are employed to ensure the property is spotless before guests arrive as a large property. I am clearly still getting some issues and this will need to be addressed for future guests. Your stay was the first of the season so the heating had been on for a week before your stay to air the properties. With no mains gas in such a rural location a company is employed to check the gas bottles but on this occasion it was not noticed with the late arrival. Emergency gas bottles are kept at the property hence we were able to replace the following morning. Again due to rural location we have to rely on satellite. The intermittent problem with the Satellite reception is still a puzzle - I have since employed a specialist company to intestigate but they could not find a fault and the problem has not returned. If it does I will have a new dish installed regardless that the current one is only 2 years old.
I am glad you enjoyed the views and location - your note about limited facilities/space in the larger cottage is reflective of a character rural cottage - in the warmer months a large covered outside dining area works better for larger groups - I will however make further note in the cottage description.
Regards
Gareth

“Gwern cottage”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

3rd time we have stayed at gwern it never disappoints - A family of 9, 6 adults and three children, plenty of space so you dont feel as though you are on top of each other. Its just minutes walk in to Marazion. Just a beautiful place to stay. Cant wait for our next visit.

“Great location but needs cleaning and updating”
Reviewed 6 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Just got back from a weeks stay and upon arrival the house looked lovely, great size and space for us all. However once inside it became apparent that the house was a little tired and in need of updating and items and fixtures fixing. Blinds were broken in both the main house and cottage and the bedding smelt damp. We had to do a clean of surfaces as everywhere felt a bit dirty, and under the beds were thick of dust. We even ironed the bedding which was extremely creased- not expected when paying to stay somewhere. The grass wasn't mowed and the decking needs some tlc. We tried to have a BBQ however when we opened the BBQ it was pretty disgusting and unable to cook on it, we had to buy disposables. The description of the house sounds much better than what is actually on offer, the Xbox is a very old console and didn't work, the table tennis bats were broken and the balls were split and as said above the house is in need of some tlc and updating.
The location of the house is fantastic and the size of the house was great we were a party of 11 plus a baby and had plenty of space, the garden is also a great size and we really enjoyed sitting out.

Thank you for your valued review and comments.
I am sorry some of the areas of the house have seen some wear this season and were not to an acceptable standard. I employ three cleaners for the turnaround so there is no excuse for the property and bedding to be other than spotless.
I replace broken equipment/fittings immediately I am aware so following this feedback I will replace the game console with a new one and will provide new bats and blinds.

“Another Fabulous Holiday”
Reviewed 19 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Yet again this cottage never fails to impress me and my family. Another lovely holiday in Marazion, although the weather was not up to its usual standard we still managed to get around and visit different towns, villages etc from previous years.
I cannot stress how conveniently situated this cottage is to the very many wonderful beaches, towns, villages in this lovely part of Cornwall. A must is the park and ride train facility from LeLant to St. Ives. Another idea is to visit the cathedral City of Truro. This is a must for all the well known High Street Shops as well as visiting the cathedral itself. this was the first time for us to visit Truro and was amazed at the diversity of the town.
When the weather was inclement the kind owner of the cottage (Dr. Job) gave us access to the games room situated in the annex.
Will we be back? this is the 4th visit for us staying at Gwern Cottage and each year there is something different about it. It is fully modernized, very clean with all the facilities you would require for self catering. I cannot fault it, and yes WE WILL BE BACK
