Only had coffee, but it could have been a lot hotter! The cakes on display looked very appetising and prices quite reasonable.

“A gem of a cafe”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

This is undoubtedly another National Trust success story. If you are visiting St. Michael's Mount, it would be a big loss if you don't drop by at this cafe.

The Island Cafe has a vantage position in the Island. The seating area in front of the cafe overlooks the water. There is a small garden shed which sells lovely Cornish ice creams. Even if you are sitting outside on a sunny day, it is definitely worth having a peep inside the main building. It is a historic building that has some remarkable photographs on the walls.

The food on offer is what you would expect in a cafe - some savouries, some pastries and drinks. We had the steak pasty which was absolutely delicious. The filling had the right balance of vegetables and meat and was baked to perfection. We were so impressed by the pasty that we decided to try some apple cake as well. It was worth trying that out too as it was one of the best cakes I had eaten for a while. The tea wasn't speciality tea, just one of the regular ones. It seemed to me that the Cornish Cream Tea is the most popular choice here. But it is definitely worth trying out the other things on offer.
