We are frequent travellers all over the world. The Old Manor is wonderful and a pleasure to stay in.
Location, staff, welcome, service, room, food and wine, service at mealtimes, courtesy, everything! Ryan Stacey Jess and Hannah. All exceptional. Love this place. It is a hidden gem!

My boyfriend and I went to celebrate early New Year's Eve. We had a room up grade for a great price and we had the taster menu which was phenomenal. Great wine menu and even better breakfast!!

Overall it was amazing and I would definitely go back!!

We have stayed here a few times in recent years, usually to give ourselves a treat after a visit to the family in Devon, while on our way back home to North Yorkshire. We have always enjoyed our visits here, but we thought it was in need of a bit of tlc. Well, after our latest visit I can tell you that new life has been breathed into the Old Manor, new owners are at the helm and changes have been made. The first improvement we saw was the reception had moved from a dingy room at the back of the hotel to a nice room at the front. We stayed in a lovely superior room, very clean and quite large with a huge bed, flat screen tv, tea & coffee with biscuits etc. A nice touch was the tray of nibbles to purchase if you felt peckish. In the bathroom was a large bath and a walk in shower.
Dinner was a delight, they have certainly found a very good chef, we can't wait to sample his food again. After a very restful nights sleep in an extremely comfortable bed, it was time for breakfast. You could help yourself to cereals, juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, preserves etc. I had a cooked breakfast which included the most wonderful tasting sausage. All the staff we interacted with were really warm, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back for more of this hospitality, quite soon in fact, January, can't wait !!

Room Tip: Having stayed in various rooms over the years, our favourite is room 21, separate from the main buil...

A young couple have recently taken over this hotel and the work that they are doing to renovate this fantastic property (both the rooms and the grounds) is impressive. Their 'hands on' attitude and attention to detail is inspiring. We stayed for a night with two young children and every effort was made to accommodate their needs including comfortable camp beds, a chef who made a tailored dinner for their needs and an introduction to Camber the dog. The food for the adults was incredible and the staff were genuinely very friendly. The hotel is perfectly located for Stonehenge, Bath and Longleat Safari Park (also recommended).

Room Tip: The hotel is under going renovation so it would be worth calling to see if a more modernised room ca...

Called this evening to see if the hotel took dogs. I was told yes at a charge of £20. I asked if that was per stay or per night and was told it was per night!!!!

Hotel looked lovely and I really wanted to book, but the dog comes too or we don't go. We love our dog but paying £20 per night ..... This seems more of a prohibitive charge rather than a 'we welcome dogs' extra charge. I understand the need to charge extra for guests who have dogs, but most hotels we have stayed in have rooms set aside specifically for guests who bring their canine family members. The room is only going to be completely cleaned at the end of the stay so am not sure why the charge is per night.

It's a shame but this is one hotel we won't be visiting.

It's £20 per stay not £20 per night for dogs at the old manor

This is somewhere we will go again. The food and service were excellent - the evening meal in all respects was fantastic and the staff were warm and engaging with genuine, great personalities and just good to be around. After a long drive, we were tired and so were ready to be looked after and feel special - we weren't disappointed. One reason we don't give it 5 out of 5 was the bathroom in our room (no 4), had a small window which was too close for comfort to the lounge area adjacent to the restaurant. The second reason, and some might think this picky, for non-meat eaters there could have been more choice. Compared to the evening meal, the breakfast was not to the same standard ie a little 'egg' heavy and the bread was not homemade and kippers would have been a nice option. But, overall we had a lovely, relaxing stay at a beautiful and characterful hotel and if this is what the new owners are capable of in just a few months, then they know what they're doing and we wish them every success. We will be back!

Recently taken over by enthusiastic young couple who have employed a great chef and very helpful staff. Lovely, imaginative food with a little something extra, would highly recommend.
Spacious restaurant with quirky and cosy bar area.
