“Book with confidence - This hotel does everything right”
Reviewed 16 August 2009

Have no worries in staying here - a top notch hotel that does everything right. On arrival was offered a free upgrade to a suite (room 48) which I highly recommend. We received a warm welcome and explanation of the layout of the hotel - very welcoming and efficient. The room was immaculate. Ultra clean and comfortable bed. Totally quiet with no noises from adjacent rooms. Dinner & Breakfast served in very nice dining room. Dinner portion was if anything overlarge and if you like your steak rare ask for blue as chef plays safe and slightly overdoes the meat. Full english breakfast was a delight. All in all cannot commend highly enough. Both the male evening waiter and the morning female waitress were top notch and attentive. Checkout was smooth, bill 100% accurate and the checkout lady was very pleasant. All in all a fantastic stay - and I'm not easily pleased. Well done everyone at the Manor - I'm going to book for my birthday in September.

we had a great experience here - it was 8 miles from Bath city centre but there is a regular bus service (the bus stop is 2 mins walk from the hotel). The bus journey is 30 minutes, buses run every 30 mins - day pass works out cheaper rather than singles. The breakfast was really good. We upgraded our room to one of the rooms that are outside the hotel (opposite the hotel restaurant/bar). Although, the hotel is not in the city it was still enjoyable to be away from the hustle and bustle. It made our stay more enjoyable to be in the countryside and near beautiful villages (Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge).

We just got back from staying here for 2 nights and were so sad to leave. The hotel was well sign posted from the main road and so had no trouble finding it when we first arrived. The drive up to the hotel and the grounds around it are very beautiful and obviously well maintained. The reception was well sign posted and the lady who was in there was very friendly and informative and showed us to our room. She explained that the room had recently had a new carpet fitted and also showed us the new flat screen tv. We were in room 2 which is a four poster bed room and when we got in there, I knew we had made the right decision about which hotel to stay in. The room was perfect - so spotless, had everything we needed, extra pillows, really nice toiletries. The bed was soooo comfortable, bed sheets very nice and crisp. There were tea and coffee making facilities, lovely antique furniture and the flat screen tv mounted on the wall was great.
The location of the hotel was just what we needed for our break away. Close to Bath and also to longleat which were the main things we wanted to do, and also far enough out of the way that it felt like such a lovely country getaway, it was peaceful and quiet and everything we were looking for really.

Dont stay in Bath stay here
I stayed with my partner last minute for a bit of a getaway. Originally I planne on staying in Bath but the hotels were over priced. This was fantastic value for money and we stayed in a four poster room with original stone floor and a large wet room. It was all the little touches that made t special with beautiful gardens and lots of trinkets in the room.
I would say I am a little bit picky when it comes to hotels and this is up there as my top three and if you want to go to bath, the station is less than a mile away with a reasonably priced car park.
The food and drink were outstanding and very reasonable too. With money being tight nowadays then this is ideal as it is luxury on the cheap.

We were greeted by the owner and shown to our room which was great.Four poster bed on a mezzanine floor! :0) The hotel and room is really unique, each room filled with paintings and antique (yet comfy) furniture. No sign of uniformity but all the mod cons you expect from power shower to huge plasma telly. Lovely restaurant where we sat on sofas to order and sat down when the food was ready...very relaxing. The location means a peaceful night was a certainty and the breakfast was plentiful and tasty. It was ideally located for our trip to Longleat but was also within easy reach of many other leisure and shopping opportunities. The whole stay was great, relaxed and good value. I have no doubt that we will return if in this part of the UK again!! Mr and Mrs Cooke

I stayed here with my parents for a weekend, they were in suite 47, I had room 7. They were lovely rooms, very spacious and spotlessly clean. From the moment we arrived and drove down the small sweeping drive we knew it was wonderful - and it was. We were personally shown to our room/suite, not just given the keys as in most Hotels, and given the relevant information for our stay. The Hotel oozes character, is peaceful and is also in a wonderful location, being perfect for a number of surrounding villages/towns/attractions and the whole area is stunning as you drive around. The grounds are lovely to walk around. There is a lovely bar and very comfortable lounge area for pre dinner/after dinner drinks and also a patio area if the weather is fine. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and found the food to be delicious with plenty of choice for all three courses. The portions are extremely generous. (Could do with the chef at home)! Breakfast was also lovely with plenty of choice. All of the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. They all go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect in every way. We would highly recommend this Hotel and shall definitely be returning.

We booked the Old Manor on 30th of May 2009 for our wedding day. The hotel far and beyond exceeded our expectations, the staff were excellent and the venue lends itself very well to weddings. The gardens looked beautiful, especially the 'wisteria arch' and the lawn area at the front of the Georgian house. We were lucky with the weather meaning our guests could relax outside and watch the sunset whilst some were seated in the specially arranged marquee (thanks Marcus). It's a leap of faith booking a venue for a wedding, if you are in this position I would highly recommend the Old Manor, you won't be disappointed. Everyone who came to the wedding commented on what a lovely place the Old Manor is.
