“Often a bit touch and go but always good service and reasonably priced”

We're quite regular at the R&C these days but so far this year have had a mixed experience each time. We were initially wowed by their reasonably priced roasts with nice trimmings like red cabbage and parsnip crisps, and their homemade salsa which they serve with the nachos. But a couple of times there have been the following issues:
Burnt roast potatoes
No sour cream (as advertised) with the nachos
Burnt choc brownie
Dry lasagne
String found in amongst beef in roast

I do really like the setting and the staff are amazingly accomodating but I'm coming to the conclusion that the food is a bit hit and miss. I think they need to make sure they continue to strive for perfection on every plate and not take shortcuts with a microwave in quieter times.

I think the slight decline was noticeable today; usually packed restaurant area was empty today when we were there.

We will keep going no doubt as it's close and the roasts are only £6.95 which is excellent value, but we made arrangements today to try somewhere else out next week.

This pub has a range of pizzas although when we got there at about 6.30pm on a Thursday evening, they had 'run out'! But the Lasagne with chips and salad was really good, not too much, not at all greasy, just tasty! My family had the burger - homemade - with chips and salad; again very good, although not too sure about it being served on a wooden board! Our waitress was friendly, efficient, polite and 'smiley'! Just a pity that the decor was very very bland. Even if they put some photos of old Trowbridge up or perhaps showcase a local artists work, it would cheer the place up a little. The lasagne and burgers were between £6.95 and £7.95 each. It is oppostie the station, a short walk out of the town centre, on the small side, probably about 8-10 tables and the eating area is separate from the bar. The wooden floorboards looked bare (but would look better if the walls weren't bare!) but everything was clean. I would go there again when in the area.

A nice little pub by the railway station. The menu is limited and tends to be hearty but everything is homemade and very well presented. Got a homemade chicken and mushroom pie, nearly took it back because there were real bits of chicken in it! On Wednesday it's buy one pie meal and get one free. Me and my mate had the pie and 4 pints of 6X between us, 20 quid...beat that.

The people who work here are really nice and friendly. They are really accommodating and nothing seems to be too big an ask. The food is good with my only criticism being that their pizzas have heaps of cheese - which may be some people's thing! However, it isn't not then it may be worth asking them to go easy. I have had a chicken curry there as well and it was very well presented and tasty.
