Located just off a roundabout was easy to find having travelled from Liverpool on the A roads rather than the motorway (brilliant recomended). Pleasantly surprised at refurbished quality - very nice . Rooms adequate and overall shows Travelodge how to do things correctly . Staff very helpful especially Liz. Superb value on a KGB voucher deal .

This was a weekend value break with breakfast. Staff were friendly and room was very clean with nice decore. No bath but very good shower. Breakfast was good and location was in service area outside Pontypool but good access to all sites of interest. Recommend stay and very good value for money.

I was happy with my stay at the BW Pontypool initially. It seems that it was either newly built or newly refurbished. Rooms appeared clean, and the décor was up to date. The staff were pleasant and the booking process easy. Just one thing marred my stay, that being discovering I had been bitten (looked like insects of some sort) during the night.

Dear Catherine C

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. Following your departure, I did not find any evidence of insects. We will continue to be vigilant in monitoring all our rooms.

Stayed here this weekend for a friends wedding, rooms lovely bed was a little hard for me but husband likes a hard bed. Very clean. My on complaint is breakfast it was awful not worth wasting your money on the eggs and bacon tasted vile eggs over microwaved and bacon cheap and inedible.

We stayed two nights over the holiday weekend. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, and gave us a free Starbucks hot drink in the lounge each day. The hotel was very modern having been recently refurbished. The car park is free and has security barriers to stop customers at KFC parking there.
The room key is the credit card type and on one occasion we couldn't get into our room. We were told this can happen if you keep your key in the same pcket as your mobile phone or sometimes when you pass through a security barrier in a shop. The reception staff soon sort things out.
Our room was beautiful with a large flat screen TV and free wi-fi. The bed was very comfortable, but as our room faced the very busy main road, sleeping was a problem. So try and get a room with even numbers!
The hot breakfast was limited to bacon, baked beans and scrambled egg, though you could have a boiled egg, which you did yourself with the help of a multiple timer - 3, 4 or 5 minutes, but a notice said that 5 minutes was a recommended minimum time. After trial and error, 7 minutes produced a nice soft egg! There was also cereals, toast, fruit etc. and hot drinks and fruit juice.
The hotel provides meals as well though the menu is not large, so we chose to eat in Pontypool on the first evening, which was a mistake. The town was very run down with lots of shops for sale. We couldn't find a restaurant except for a Wetherspoons and the food we had was very poor. Therefore, our advice is eat in the hotel or travel to Newport, Cardiff or Bristol.
I highly rate this hotel and couldn't find anything to complain about, so we will definitely be back - if I can get an even numbered room!

Room Tip: If possible book a room which has even numbers, because all the odd ones are facing the busy main ro...
