Pontypool Park was once the garden of the Hanbury family (made their money in the Industrial Revolution). For some ones garden it is unbelievably large.
1. Has play area and skate board park
2. Has a leisure centre and swimming pool with hydro slides situated at its main entrance,. (Free car parking)
3. Tennis courts and bowling greens
4. Picnic areas.
5. Fantastic walks with a folly and grotto. The views are absolutely splendid.
6. A small Italian garden.
7. Don't forget the SKI SLOPE, open on weekends throughout the summer and everyday in the winter. It's were we learnt to ski and much cheaper than the Snow Dome. You can hire or use your own equipment, we have never had a problem with the care of our equipment. Sorry to see the negative review from "lulabuggle".
If the weather is good you can send all day there as there is plenty to see and do.

A good park in the middle of Pontypool, has plenty of paths to take you in different directions, you can go past the gardens, the bandstand and the rugby stands. Has a playground and plenty of trees. If you get tired you can have a cup of tea in the leisure center at the front of the park.

I live a short drive away from the park and it's great for families. The playground is well equipped and the skater park section is always popular. It's also easy to walk around the extent of the park where there are beautiful trees in all seasons. If you're feeling more adventurous, walking up the hill by the ski slope then takes you right to the Grotto, and you can continue to the Folly tower. The Active Living Centre is on the park grounds, so you can use the cafe and toilet facilities there. There are also special events hosted in the park such as the summer carnival and the Jazz festival- well worth a visit.

Attended the ski slope and I'm really disappointed. The welcoming staff member was pleasant, but the gentlemen arranging skis was rude and seemed uninterested. He also damaged both of my own ski boots!!! Certainly wouldn't recommend you taking your own ski equipment as he had no care for my brand new boots! Now having chunks out of them! Instructor was the same man and was rude and spoke down to you. Unhelpful and no instruction! Certainly wouldn't recommend going waste of money! After going to Snowdome, it's better to travel there instead, better staff better facilities and staff take care with your equipment unlike here!!

Naturalised parkland with mature trees as well as a children's area, bandstand. A cafe with toilets on site. Metalled pathways for visits during wet weather. A wonderful view in springtime is the avenue of cherry trees in blossom.
