“Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club Hotel”

We booked for a party of approx. 40, golf for the gents and sightseeing and 'retail therapy' for the ladies. What a superb hotel - the staff were without exception friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay there in the future. I am partially disabled and had ordered oxygen to be delivered for my stay and this was delivered to my room with the minimum of fuss. The food was delicious, the only slight fault was that we were asked to order dinner for each night at the beginning of our stay, for those who didn't write their choices down it proved a little difficult remembering what we had ordered. The only criticism we would make is that the bar prices, compared to other hotels the society has stayed at, were very expensive.

Room Tip: Some rooms re quite difficult to locate and constitute a long walk. Despite my disability we foun...

Beautiful grounds...great venue for a cèilidh and wedding reception, the food was well presented and delicious...the staff were both friendly and professional...and the breakfast was fantastic... would love to have a go on the golf courses!

However, public areas a bit small...bring your GPS to find your room and the way back to reception, self closing bathroom doors are very loud and are heard throughout the night, thus the low sleep quality rating.

Outrageous WiFi charges for room...drinks at the bar a wee bit expensive but that is to be expected...and although there were two of us, the room's amenities, ie soap etc was set up for one and surprisingly no bottled water...most hotels of this calibre usually have complimentary bottles of water.

We liked your comment regarding the GPS, Dalmahoy is an 18th Century Baronial Manor House and as such has quite a quirky layout. You get used to it very quickly and guests regularly tell us that this is actually one of their favourite things about the hotel. Next time you come, you should certainly take the time to have a game of golf, Scotland is after all the home of golf :-)
Whilst we do charge for WiFi in guest rooms, it is free in public areas (bars, restaurants and lounges) and I will pass on your comments regarding amenities in your room when there are two or more guests staying. Thanks for staying with us.

Very nice marriott hotel at a great country club location. The rooms were very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice too with lots of choices. I didn't use many other facilities as I just stayed there for only 1 night.

My sister and I stayed at the Marriott Dalmahoy as part of our CIE Taste of Scotland Tour. The hotel was very nice and the rooms were nice too. We each had a nice sized bed lots of pillows. They do not have central AC and they provided a fan in the room that we could use in case it was stuffy even with the opened windows.

I encountered several people who got lost in this hotel as there are many different corridors that you can take. I ended up going on the wrong staircase once but after I had it figured out it was easy.

One thing I did not like was the slamming doors all of the time. I think they were the bathroom doors in the rooms as they closed when you went in or out of them. I would prefer the door to stay open so that it could be closed as needed instead slamming shut. I also did not like having to pay for wi-fi in the rooms.

The breakfast was wonderful -- I especially liked the omelette station that they had. A few instances they had either pancakes or waffles too but the bin was empty each time I got to it so I don't know how they were.

We ate dinner at the little sports bar and the food was good. There were some communication issues with some of the staff who spoke little English that could be frustrating at times.

The concierge and staff were very helpful in helping us get to where we needed to go as well as helping us with the computer so we could print our boarding passes.

Stayed here for 2 nights just for a little break having been before some 20 years ago

It is a nice place with all the facilities you would want for a couple of nights However there wer some things i didnt like

We checked in and were asked for a card to pay the bill with -No problem
Then asked if we wanted to give a deposit so we could charge things to the room - no problem
For what ever reason the check in staff did not take the said deposit - no problem
we had drinks charged to room -njo problem
we had afternoon tea (which was very good) charged to room -no problem
We had Dinner in the Zest restaurant (Bloody expensive) and wished to charge this to the room - big problem as we were told that we could only pay cash as the system would no longer allow us to charge to room. Embarrasing and insulting as i doubt very much any one does a runner in a hotel such as this and besides they had our card details !

The main bar is very nice but for the most part this was denied to us as it was closed for private functions (weddings) despite the fact that there are at least 2 function rooms this left us having to use the lounge area which does not have enough seats when the bar is closed !

The reception staff did say sorry tho which is at least something but does not go far enough when spending IRO £400 for 2 night stay ( including food and drink)
On a final point the staff from the grounds men up are very polite and friendly

I would like to say i would go back but i am not sure

Thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel, we genuinely appreciate your feedback. Our team here at Dalmahoy are regularly recognised for their genuine hospitality, and we share all guest comments weekly.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you had with your room credit, I know how frustrating this can be. Without being able to identify your exact reservation, I can only assume that the reception team did in fact take a deposit, though if you were paying with a credit card then this would not have shown up as a transaction until after you checked out. Without going into too much detail, the problem here is communication on our part, and I apologise for the inconvenience this caused.

We are a very popular wedding venue, and part of our packages do include private use of the Cocktail bar for the reception drinks, however we do not block it off in the evening as we appreciate that other residents may want to use the bar. We also have the Douglas Lounge where table service is provided for anyone who wants to stay away from the crowd.

We would love to welcome you back here to Dalmahoy, and if this is something you may consider then please contact our guest services team directly to make your reservation on mhrs.edigs.Guest.Relations@marriotthotels.com

We stayed here last week for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. We were visiting a family member who lived nearby so unfortunately we didn't get the full experience of what the hotel had to offer. Firstly it's location is superb, very peaceful with views of the golf course and surrounding countryside. The front entrance is quite impressive , but the rest of the accommodation is in two large concrete blocks, so be prepared for a long walk to your room as you wind your way around long corridors! The room service breakfast we found to be excellent. One of the best room service breakfasts we have had anywhere on our travels . What should have been hot was hot and what should have been cold was cold. I know that sounds simple but in reality it very rarely happens. The breakfast food was delicious but the ordering form needs to be made clearer ! We stayed one night for dinner in the restaurant which has great views over the golf course, but we did find the food not very tasty and therefore not worth restaurant prices ! The staff were all very polite and helpful and housekeeping did a great job.

I initially picked this hotel because it was close to the airport and I am a Marriott rewards member; however, it was actually a nice, relaxing place to stay. We had a room with 2 double beds, nice large bathroom and opted for the breakfast in bed (breakfast included in our rate). We ate dinner in the casual restaurant; it took the food a while to come but it was worth the wait (staff gave us a free drink for the wait). The grounds were stunning (obviously a golf resort) but they had tennis and there was actually a hard-core exercise class the morning we walked by the fitness center. The only negative aspect of this property is the multi-level elevators and rooms. We only stayed one night and by the second trip to the room, we figured it out but you literally need the little hotel map they give you at check in. The staff was friendly, even the "trainee" that checked us out the following morning.
