Summer Sundays in warm weather are a classic experience at this Bavarian landmark's terrace. Andechs beer is world famous. If you are in the Munich area, by all means, visit the Kloster for a world-class Schweinshaxe of incredible size washed down by their famous elixir. It is best to take the S-Bahn to avoid the potentiality of driving after a "full" visit - good for the environment and good for you, too.

My excellent score is due more to the atmosphere and the beauty of the place, than to the food itself. In the country outside Munich, on a hill, you can see this wonderful place, where you can enjoy a typical Bavarian meal and drink an excellent liter of andechs. If you happen in Munich I advise you to visit this place!

Nothing better than having excellent German beer overlooking rural farmland. Excellent mostly pork food as well. The outdoor seating is covered, so no issues with rain unlike Augustiner Keller, which seems to be closed any day there is a chance of rain. Also the walk from Herrsching is a legit hour as we walk quickly and it took us 55 minutes. Do some research on the MVV website as you can get a free bus ride back to Herrsching or Tutzing with your S-bahn pass. The bus ride to Tutzing is very scenic and the bus stops directly next to the S-bahn station, so no problems finding your way even if you haven't been there before.

Discover this place...a simple full day trIp from Munich. Out in the country near a beautiful lake. A must visit if you like excellent beer, good food, beautiful surroundings, and great views. But take care, a liter of their double bock will put you on your butt...just one! Tip: they also serve pints so you can sample all their brews. Start with their helles, then wheat, then single bock, then double bock, then good luck!
Don't drive or make sure you have a driver who does not drink. In fact, take the train, then a bus to the top of a steep hill. You can walk but may enjoy the overall experience by riding somehow. The food is too good and beer too strong to walk back.
Oh, there is also an attractive church at the very top of the hill that is easy to miss...you have to go by the beer first!

Being in Munich and not going to Andechs to eat a a weisswurst, bretzl and drink a beer is the some that going to Rome and not see the Pope.
This place is famous beacause of the church that is the oldest in Germany and of course because of the beer. It is great being in the big beargarten.
They are not open for dinner.
