Visited the owl centre for the first time today. I was very impressed by the variety of different owls and birds on display (including my fave the Ural owl). Although a small area they make the most of the available space and most cages and labelled do you know what everything is. Some signs were mixed up but it looks like some had recently moved and just not got quite round to changing.
However today I was witness to what seemed to be a senior manager loudly arguing/discussing a few problems he had seen with the staff. Not only was this very loud (I think everyone on site heard it) but it was also held at the entrance to the attraction. We had to wait for a lull in this conversation to sneak out by a side entrance. It was very awkward, and you could see that other visitors on-site were made uncomfortable by the managers shouting too. I thought this to be very unprofessional. This conversation although seemed to be serious (I will not go into details here, but I heard all of the accusations) it should not have taken place in public, particularly blocking the entrance/exit. This episode spoiled an otherwise lovely visit. Ordinarily I would not have said something but I felt that this let the entire visit down and therefore it must be mentioned.
Please don't be put off by this as I'm sure this was an isolated incident and the actual birds are lovely with some very unusual species for those who visit sites like this often. I would like to visit again in the future, and for those with families it's not far from the kirkleatham museum which has free entry and is just a lovely place to visit too.
