“Very relaxing stay, great resort”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Les Jardins is a top-of-the-range resort for people who are interested in getting a genuine taste of rural France, and it is the combination of these two that makes it so appealing. The accommodation is excellent, the buildings are tastefully designed to fit in with the countryside and there is an excellent pool and restaurant on site. It great for families as its safe and contained, and its also a great base for exploring the Carcassonne area and all its wonderful towns and attractions. Would highly recommend.

I have been to Les Jardins twice now - once when the resort had just opened and once again in the summer. This place just keeps getting better and better! It's a lovely resort with great activities for kids, including swimming, table tennis, boules and tennis. The spa is top class and it's great to have the option of an indoor pool - especially for those days you've overdone the sunbathing!

The bar is a great spot for a pre-dinner drink and the buffet breakfast is very impressive. You can also buy your bread and croissants from the restaurant every morning in case you're feeling too lazy to take a stroll down to the boulangerie! The houses are tastefully decorated in the typical relaxed southern French style with colourful shutters and wicker furnishings.

They also have wine tasting evenings every week in the summer which is a great way of sampling local wines. The staff at Les Jardins are very attentive, friendly and are always happy to book a restaurant/taxi/tour for you if you're French isn't up to scratch.

Finally, I think my favourite thing about this resort is that it is in such a lovely, unspoiled area of France. It's outside of Carcassonne, so it's not too touristy. The beaches around Narbonne are in driving distance as is a day trip to northern Spain. There are beautiful vineyards in the area, lovely rock pools and some really fantastic restaurants. I couldn't recommend this place more highly - I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: The houses down the far end of the resort with the swimming pools get all day sun!!

We have holidayed at this resort for the past 4 years as owners and it is an excellent location. A superb and quiet resort ideally suited to families. It is also an excellent base to explore this haven of French Culture with Carcassonne, Lagrasse and Narbonne as ideal day trips. Food was great and there are excellent markets in the local towns and villages, the best is Olonzac. The beaches are within 40 minutes of which Gruissan is our favourite. For a good read, bring the books of Kate Mosse (Labryinth and Sepulchre) which are set in the Cathar period of history. Loooking forward to our return this summer with our 3 kids who love the fabulous pool.

Room Tip: Find a house close to The Bastide

We enjoyed a fantastic Christmas at this resort, Beautiful houses, beautiful spa and great food in the restaurant. We could not fault it for a relaxing family holiday out of season. The staff in the reception are exceptionally helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They also speal excellent English.

I'd to start off by saying that I'm English but I live in France, and not that far from the hotel that I am reviewing.
The spa complex looks really very nice on their website, and suited myself, a friend and her 12 y/o son, for a few hours of relaxation in their amenities.
My friend had phoned them in the morning to ask for details, closing times, and general things that she thought prudent before we made the journey.
On arrival, it wasn't clear where the entrance was for the Spa. One the main pillars at the top entrance had been bashed, and the top half the pillar was balancing precariously ready to fall should there have been a gust of wind. It's that sort of unkempt state of a 4* hotel, that normally sets the alarm bells ringing. However we took the lower entrance, but that was a guess too, as once inside it's simply not signposted.
I got out and searched around, and finally found the main entrance.
It was really very pleasant in the reception foyer, and a smart-dressed man welcomed us within seconds. We explained we had phoned earlier for the Spa 'experience', and he proceeded to show us where the entrance was, that towels were available, and the pricing. What he, nor the woman who had been phoned earlier in the day had not informed us of, was that children under 18 weren't permitted in the Spa. We couldn't believe he had rambled on, and at the final second, had said what he should have said at the beginning.
'The next time you come' ignoring our questioning faces, 'you can always book in advance'.
Really? Well the fact that the child won't be 18 for 6 more years, made his statement entirely irrelevant to his selling pitch!
Why, does a 'resort' like this, that caters for families, not allow their children into the Spa with adult supervision? Where do they leave their kids should they fancy using the facilities?
On the whole, we left more annoyed than disappointed. The place looked quite shabby from the outside, even though it's the end of the season. The gardens around the entrance were untidy, and stank of cats wee (due to the Boxwood plants).
Needless to say, I won't be making the effort to return. That 60 euros they just threw away, would have been well spent on a lick of paint.

We are very happy we found this nice property in the middle of Corbieres, surrounded by wine yards!

As we have travelled in this part of France for many years and tried different rental homes and hotels, we simply love the combination you get here. The houses on the property are new and modern, but built with respect for the traditional style of the area.

We rented a beautiful 3 bedroom house on the property, and it had all the amenities we needed for our stay. In addition to the three bedrooms there were also 3 large bathrooms a nice little garden and a private pool, excellent!

The large open plan living-room is incorporated with the kitchen and dining area, and connects to the outdoor terrace, private garden and pool. In addition on the ground floor there was a double bedroom and a bathroom with walk in shower room with WC.

There were 2 air-conditioned double bedrooms on the first floor which open out onto the first floor balcony. Both bedrooms had large en-suite bathrooms. From the balcony upstairs we had a great view of the nature and surrounding wine fields!

The property has a spa, very nice indoor and outdoor pools, restaurant, bar, outdoor activities and large common areas. We used the tennis court every day and rented bikes for the week (highly recommended!).

It’s about half an hour drive to the beach, but to be honest we preferred to stay “home” and enjoyed both the private pool in our garden and the large common pool. There is also a beautiful river down by the vineyard where you can take a walk by the riverside, do some fishing or dip your toes in.

The local village is only 4-500 meters walk from the property, and there you can find a baker, butcher, a small supermarket, wine stores and a couple of restaurants.

Obviously, there was a change in management of the property during the summer as mentioned by some reviewers. We didn’t notice this in any way, and have to say the service was impeccable!!! Both in the reception, the restaurant and in the spa the team members were very attentive and service minded.

If you are looking for the best rental home property with a unique setting in this nice area of France, we can strongly recommend Jardins de Saint Benoit!

We will be back next year!

Room Tip: The larger houses with private pool has great views of the nature and wine yards.
