The hotel is new, clean, designed for families with children. 3 pools for childrens and only one for adults. Lifeguards at the pools and on the beach. Nice that hotel personel removes towels of guests that try to reserve sunbeds at the pool even they are not there. Receptionists able to speak English and that is not usual in Bulgarian holiday resorts. Breakfast brief, but you can find a bit of everything. Restaurant is quite small for this size of a hotel, however empty. Apparently most people eat outside. The main street of Ravda with lots of shops and restaurants starts just in front of the hotel gate. Rooms have kitchen, but there are no dishes except glasses, so bring your pans, plates, knives and forks if you want to cook yourself. 50% of guests form Russia, the rest from Brittain and Norway. Surprisingly no Germans. Access to the beach is deviated as they are building some new resort between Emarald and the beach. So you have to leave through the main gate and pass around the hotel and a big construction hole. Beach is small, sandy, but a lot of sea weed (as everywhere in Bulgarian coast).

We have stayed in Ravda at the Emerald Resort on a number of occasions, most recently in May 2013. It is a real gem with a number of outdoor pools, children's play area, well-kept gardens and a well-hidden sky-bar. The temperature of the outdoor pool was (in May) a little too cold for our infant son but the indoor pool in the spa was perfect. My wife has enjoyed the Spa on a number of occasions and this year was no different - it is worth making a day of it as you get free access to the sauna etc. with a booked massage.

Ravda is a short drive (25 mins) from Burgas airport but we flew into Sofia and drove across country on this occasion. The extended motorway makes the journey much easier and quicker although it is a 5 hour drive. There are a number of pleasant restaurants a 5 minute walk from the Emerald with our favourites being the pizzeria and sunrise. Food (and drink) is very affordable and you can eat out for two with a drink for around a tenner.

The apartment we stayed in is rented out by the owners. It is decently furnished - a large balcony, good size living area, bath + shower, air conditioning, large tv, collection of books / dvds etc. There is a stove but no oven however this isn't a loss as we ate out most of the time.

There is some building work towards the sea facing side of the resort but we did not have any problems with noise. There is a walkway down to the Ravda beach - it's OK but not the best beach but if you're looking for golden sand, Sunny Beach is a short drive away. Nessebar is also worth a visit.

Room Tip: Book direct with apartment owners - check where room is located and whether cleaning is included.

My husband, 13 year old daughter, 14 year old daughter and I have been to Ravda twice before and we have once stayed at the Emerald resort. We have booked to go away again during the middle of July. The resort is excellent with altogether about six large and small pools. The outside looks really great and it has security and a large gate to stop strangers getting in. Just outside the resort you can hire electronic scooter type things to ride up and down an enclosed road or all around Ravda for 30minutes or 1hour. My two children really enjoyed that experiance. We hired a self catering apartment and ate out every day. Each morning we would walk down the road which would take o linger than three minutes until we ot to the town centre. There we would get a fresh fruit juice form a pedlars stall: you could choose what fruit you had out of a large variety. One day my daughters had just lemon and grapejuice; ow soure! For breakfast we had pancakes from a stall on the right hand side which were eally yummy! For brunch sometimes we had kababs from another stall on the right hand side which were again very good. Further down the right side was a devine cake and coffee shop; the ice coffee was great! On the left hand side is a bar/cake and coffee shop that shows european football for the hubbys out there! A few days we travelled to Nessabar by bus. The busses are very cramped and there is quite a struggle to get on but i guess that is just part of their culture where as Brits ike to queue! Nessebar is great with lovely little markets. Everything in Bulgaria is very cheap! You can get pints of beer from as little as 50 english pence. Twice in one holiday we went to a water park called 'Aqua Park' which was really enjoyable. A minibus will pick you up from the centre of Ravda and take you on the short journey straight to the park. When yo get there there is a veriaty of water slides forthe brave and timid. You can even just lie on a sunlounger for the whole day or have a splash in the pool. Food is also on offer along with refreshing drinks. We bought our drinks during the happy hour and the children had mocatils. We went once and then got an offer to go again for half the price. Most days we spent around the pool. We bought two cheap inflatable lilos and used them in the pool. We felt very safe at all times. We don't normally like o go to the same place over and over again but you just cant resist Ravda. I hope these comments helped you to visit these places.

I have until recently never thought of holidaying in Bulgaria. The Emerald resort is as the name suggests simply 5 star!! I'm struggling to find a negative; perhaps apart from the fact I had to fly Wizz Air to get there!
The resort is immaculate, the staff are courteous and friendly and the services are first class. If you want a relaxing break, there is no conceivable reason to actually leave the resort but as hard as it maybe I strongly advise you to. The surrounding is rustic and charming and dare I say actually benefits from its non EU interference to date. Visit Nessebar and you will be blown away. I am finding hard to understand the negative comments about this place - I think that they must of been in the wrong place - I'm going again very soon!!

Emerald Spa Resort is the most unique Spa resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast with the most amazing Indonesian Spa Center - the only in Europe.

For the first time I was here with friends in May 2012, when we spent four wonderful days, I could not believe it was possible to have so much beauty and high quality services in Bulgaria.

Since then several times I, my friends and my family have visited Emerald Spa Resort and every time we are impressed by everything - spacious rooms and studios, fresh food, high quality of services of the team of Complex, fithess Center, the cleanliness everywhere, water in the pools, brilliant SPA therapy /ask for "Baliiski massage", face therapy "Royal Regeneration" when you are in Water Bed - it was the best experience I have ever had, I adore relaxing and spa and I highly recommended to all of you who loves this way of relaxing.

This summer we are planning to visit Emerald again and we are sure that our holiday will be perfect and as we dream with a lot of enjoy, relax and all needed.

The hotel is the worst hotel of 5 stars in the world! The hotel has only the infrastructure and the pictures of site in fact of 5 stars, nothing else.
Maybe the hotel is the maximum 2 stars.
The hotel is good for family which likes to cook in the room. Yes, it is possible to cook in the room because in the room is near the bed the kitchen and it is possible to prepare the food. All corridors had fetor smell of food…in special of chips.
And more,in the restaurant the food was very poor, rechauffe…. And not only the food was the problem, also the cleaning inside and the dishes which were very dirty.
No words anymore….I let you to see the picture of the room and of the restaurant of 5 stars…!!!
Horrible! Shame!
