“"THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR POOR SERVICE"”
Reviewed 13 November 2012

My visit to this restaurant started so good. Nice friendly welcome, showed to a nice table, food and drinks ordered, that is when it started to go downhill. The young girl brought the drinks to our table then proceeded to ask my guests to identify to her which lager had the lime in it ? I do not think it appropriate to drink out of each others glass. The food arrived, we had all ordered fillet steak with vegetables and two separate sauces, not a steak knife in sight. We where asked if we would like them and my reply was, " it would be handy " A good five or six minutes past before the girl returned, with 2 steak knifes and there was three of us eating steak, how dumb can one be? The girl came back with the last steak knife 1 minute later, by this time our food was nearly cold. It was such a pity about the service as the food was excellent, the steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection. After we had all finished eating our main course the time ticked on, and on and on. 20 minutes after we had finished i got up and asked for the plates to be removed. At no time where we asked if we would like another drink. We had had enough. I asked for the bill, paid and we left. On inspecting the receipt a few minutes after leaving i noticed that i had been charged for 3 sauces and not 2. I was not surprised. Good service costs nothing, but means everything, to me.

“A little gem”
Reviewed 28 August 2012

We love the tranquil, tucked-away setting for this restaurant, well-signposted off the A52 coast road between Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea. We keep coming back, for Sunday lunch or evening meals on a Friday or Saturday, and the occasional afternoon tea at the weekend. There is always a warm welcome from the small, friendly and dedicated team personally led by the owner/manager. We mostly opt for the steak-and-wine deal for two, good value at £16.95, or the excellent carvery on a Sunday, but there are menu options, including 2 meals for £10, and a la carte, to suit all tastes and budgets. There is a new, extensive wine list, but we almost always choose a bottle of cava, and appreciate the little details like chilled glasses. We also really like the decor and ambience of the Bistro, which is light, fresh and contemporary. As we eat out frequently, we are always making comparisons, and in our opinion, the Bistro offers good food at a reasonable price, prepared by a versatile, creative and experienced chef, served promptly and unobtrusively by nice people.

“Groupon cream tea deal”
Reviewed 4 August 2012

Travelled from Sleaford a good hour and fifteen minutes away. Location a bit odd, in the middle of a caravan park. One person was doing everything, I don't think that is fair to anybody. Food was o.k. however service was slow. Why can't we seem to get basics right in the country. Simple things like having sugar in a bowl or dispencer, not individual portions. My only complaint was that you don't get asked for a coffee refil, again something that seems standard in this country.
