Walk to the lighthouse is worth the views once on the cliffs. Interesting signs along the route to explain the history.

Beautiful view, it was a bit foggy when we drove in but by the time we walked to the lighthouse it had cleared. Neat to see where the Pacific and Tasman Sea came together.

Last time we visited was 30 years ago when all the roads were gravel, all resealed now to top of the Cape. Parking is plentiful. Toilets nice and clean! The walk is amazing and as you come over the rise, view is spectacular. Well worth the long trip. Enjoy.

After travelling through an ancient forest and getting to this wonderful view the time was well spent. The climb back up to the car park is a bit of a an effort, on scorching sunny day, but it was just fantastic to see and look at the views from up at the lighthouse.

We headed to see the lighthouse at Cape Reinga after seeing what you can see if 90 Mile Beach without a 4x4. It’s about 2.5 hours drive further, and it’s an easy, pleasant one!

There is lots of interesting information, and pretty stunning views of the coast and the lighthouse.

There’s good parking, and the lighthouse walk is easy. There are no shops or cafes here. To break up the long journey Pukenui Four Square has a lovely little bay opposite with a couple of picnic tables, which breaks up the long journey!

I’m glad I’ve been!
