I and my wife had a GREAT holiday here.
It is very near from Abel Tasman park and has a wonderful scenary.
We stayed in studio room which is cosy, clean and beautiful.
Maree and Ken did their best to give us a good advice for Abel Tasman Tracking.
It was REALLY AWESOME. more than AWESOME!!

Maree and Greg made us very comfortable in their beautiful retreat. Our comfy log cabin was well equiped and had a verandah looking over the pretty garden. We enjoyed 'eating in', using the BBQ facilities the first night and the local fish and chip shop the second. Each evening Maree provided baskets full of everything we needed to make our own breakfasts. Our main reason for visiting the area was to walk part of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, and Greg proved a welcome escort, providing us with information about the plants and birds along the way. We had the added bonus of a fabulous lunch at the family's delightful bach in one of the secluded bays. Greg had organised one of the local water taxis to pick us up from this bay and take us further along the coast where we walked another section of the track. Our hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of useful advice and guidance, not least the need for sun cream and insect repellent!

We stayed 2 nights in the Studio which is set in a secluded and pretty garden. The studio is well furnished and equipped and immaculate throughout. We were given a warm and friendly welcome and would recommend Riwaka Retreat as a very good value-for-money place to stay for a visit to Abel Tasman park.

Great good fortune to have found this place. We came late at night and they accomodated us anyway, gracio usly. The entrance to our room/cabin was perfumed with the smell of jasmine flowers, growing profusely on the arbor we walked under to get to the room...very lovely. that gives you an idea of the spirit of the place.

Thank you Bob for taking the time to review Riwaka Retreat.

Thank goodness you found us at such a late hour. Having you both spend a night on the beach was not an option for us!

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in Estuary Studio and yes the jasmine is in full bloom right now!

What a wonderful place to have a relaxing quiet holiday. We have been here for three or four years and am always sorry to leave. The Riwaka Ritz has always been clean and tidy and very comfortable and is all you really need for a good holiday.

Maree and Ken are excellent hosts, very knowledgeable, and can answer any questions you may have on the area. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.

Thank you Russell for reviewing Riwaka Retreat.
We know how you both love The Riwaka Ritz and we love having you visit us each year.

We hope Christchurch stops shaking soon and look forward to your next visit at the end of December 2012. We will try for some fish for you again this year!

We had two fabulous Spring days, guided by Ken, and looked after by Maree, walking first from Marahau to Anchorage (with a water taxi pick up off the beach at 3.30pm) then second day, Tonga to Torrent Bay, this time with a water taxi outbound, stopping to admire the basking fur seals on the way.

Day 1 was glorious weather, super lunch prepared by Maree and eaten in the unique setting of their family bach (summer house) on Stillwell bay.. what a place and what a unique selling point for their company ! The water was just warm enough to swim. The path that day was mainly on the contour line so very easy and beautiful views.

Day 2 the weather was more mixed -- typical NZ Spring we were told - four seasons in a day (we're Brits so what's new?). More up and down hill on this route, a level of exercise we appreciated.

Being used to walking in the UK and France, we found walking the Abel Tasman national park was a new experience, with new birdsong en route, new plants to admire (and Ken was very knowledgeable on them all) and the perfect combination of easy underfoot, walking in dappled shade with stupendous views between the ferns and the NZ beech trees.

If we were younger and had more time, we'd have enjoyed camping along the way.

Room Tip: The Cottage has two bedrooms and a beautiful deck overlooking the lemon tree and the chickens.

Kathy and John I am so pleased you enjoyed your days with us even with the wind and rain on your second day - this does make us appreciate our perfect sunny days of which we are renowned for in the Abel Tasman.

I hope you both really enjoyed the rest of your trip and John, you have set a new benchmark for mature clients on our Tonga to Torrent Bay trip. I do not expect to see this fall any day soon!

Kind regards and all the best.

Maree and Ken are very helpful and know the area so well that we were able to get the most from our all too short stay. Simply the best.
