“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

Arriving late after a long day traveling we were welcomed with big smiles from Ange and Gordon and felt right away at home. The unit was spacious, very clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay with great kitchen, garden outside. Great value for the money.

We stayed at Abbey Court for 2 nights as a "base" for a trip in Abel Tasman national park. It is about 20 minutes drive from the starting point of most ships that sail into the park.

The room we stayed in was big, clean and comfy. It was nicely heated (we were during winter time), and with the electric mattress it was very warm in bed.

The kitchenette of the room included a small oven, a toaster, an heating plate, a microwave & all the dishes and accessories one needs to cook by himself.

Last, but not least, the owners of the motel - Gordon & Angie - were extremely nice and helpful, and really made us feel at home (and not in a hotel).

Bottom line, great value for money and we will definitly stay again if we are in the area.

Our Family of 5 adults and 2 small children Stayed in What is known as the Nuns Quarters and has 4 bedrooms and was absolutely fantastic for our extended family. The welcome we got was very welcoming from Ange and Gordon with a wonderful chat around the table . The beds were very comfortable and great space for the little ones . Everything was spotless and information was forthcoming on whatever you wanted to do. Would recommend to anyone .

We stayed two nights in a one bedroom unit. We were welcomed with big smiles from Ange and Gordon and felt right away at home. The unit was spacious, very clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay with fully equipped kitchen and even a small toaster-oven. Outside, there was a BBQ with all the utensils, very convenient. The veranda outside the unit was well used by us for our meals, so cozy. The surroundings are well kept with many flowers, herbal plants, trees. It really looks that the owners love this place and want the guests to feel the same. We wish we could stay longer. Sure enough, we will return.

The property is lovingly cared-for. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy, with thoughtful touches such as books, magazines, board games and free wifi - perfect for our family group. The owners, Ange and Gordon, couldn't have been more welcoming and provided good advice on what to see in the area. Abbey Court motel is just off the High Street but the level of traffic noise was barely noticeable.

Room Tip: If you're travelling with a family group, ask about the availability of the former Nun's qua...

There are a bunch of motels in Motueka of similar vintage, offering similar amenities. Truthfully, we chose this one from among the crowd at the end of a long day because it was the least expensive and offered free wireless internet. It turned out to be unexpectedly delightful! It has everything you need to enjoy your time in Motueka, including a comfortable bed, an excellent shower, and all of the gear for self-catering. The amenities are fairly basic, but clean and very comfortable. On check-in, the friendly owners give you milk and a dish of tasty shortbread cookies, how welcoming. We especially enjoyed spending an evening sitting on the veranda outside the room, drinking wine and listening to the incredible of variety of New Zealand birds calling.
