“Picture perfect in a most charming town”
Reviewed 8 August 2012

Tiradentes is a town that exudes charm and brings you back to another era. What better place to stay then Solar de Ponte. The hotel is filled with antiques and modern conveniences as well. Just cross the stone bridge and you are in the central square lined with shops, one of which has unbelievable hand made chocolate .There are a number of restaurants and Tiradentes is known for it's cuisine . At a delightful hotel breakfast we spoke to the owners son and met his father. An Englishman who married a Brizalian women and bought the hotel 40 years ago. We could not conceive of a more pleasant breakfast or better company. We stayed in room 10 a lovely and spacious quarto.Stay at least two days.

Pay attention: once in the Solar da Ponte, you may want to never leave ... Located in the heart of Tiradentes, the hotel is a member of the Roteiro de Charme – a superb group of Brazilians pousadas. Solar da Ponte is the perfect home base for exploring this historic town. The room (spacious) is very well furnished with antiques, fresh flowers, and comfortable couches and chairs. The restaurant in the garden room serves a scrumptious breakfast with fresh warm rolls, eggs, cold cuts, cake, and fresh fruit, all on beautiful dishes made by a local artist. In the afternoon, the restaurant offers complimentary tea. Wonderful stay ….

Room Tip: The standard rooms overlook the street and the stone bridge that the pousada is named after, while t...

This place has it all: perfect location just off the square in the old town of Tiradentes, beautiful grounds and gardens (with a great pool) and wonderful service. The rooms are stylish and very comfortable and the food (breakfast and afternoon tea), really good - lots of delicious homemade treats, all served in a lovely, flower-filled room overlooking the gardens. Tiradentes is a gorgeous town that is a delight to stroll around, taking in the leafy and tranquil colonial atmosphere, the lovely shops and restaurants and the stunning views out across the Serra de Sao Jose hills.

What a find - touted as the best hotel in this beautiful colonial village I had high hopes and they weren't disappointed.

Rooms had a unique timeless character sorely missing in todays brand of ultra modernistic hotels. The interior design made the hotel feel like a convivial safari lodge and the location is perfect (Right off of the main square). Breakfast was excellent and all home made and the staff were warm friendly and made you feel more like a family friend than a paying guest.

Being an English group travelling in Brazil this hotel made me feel very at ease and the kind and friendly English owner who will happily converse freely with the guests was a real treat as well even going so far as to photocopy an english version of the history of the town for us to digest.

A truly lovely hotel in a colonial building which has been lovingly restored by its English and Brazilian owners. All the rooms and common spaces are tastefully decorated with antigue furnishings. The breakfasts are lovely - served at table, are is the wonderful formal tea.

this is a great hotel in a beautiful house and with a garden to die for. Breakfast and afternoon tea are just perfect, as are the rooms and the service. It is on the pricey side, but it is worth the overall experience. Will come back!!!

In the baroque little town of Tiradentes, this is a charming hotel, with all the facilities you may need.
A beautiful restored house, with an incredible breakfest and afternoon tea in the style of the countryside.
The rooms are decoreted in a style that goes on with the building and the city itself.
Great location, near to main square and main streets, but in a quiet area.
Nice gardens and swimming pool. Friendly staff, that make you feel at home.

Room Tip: Reserve in advance, since it's allways full.
