A relaxed professional course for children and their adults to learn about keeping hens in & around London, highlighting the benefits and difficulties you can come across. Brilliantly presented with a eggcellent goody bag to take home.
Both my children aged 12 & 8 learnt and enjoyed the morning. The coffee & cakes tasted lovely too.

Four of us from Disability Network Hounslow spent a relaxing afternoon making piccalilli, savoury apple jelly and chutney. We sat round a table in the conservatory looking out on to the garden where the chickens live. Sara welcomed us with tea and home-made cakes and remembered that one person needed gluten-free flour. Sara gave us detailed recipes and encouraged us to try variations on the ingredients in future, including using vegetables from our allotment. Sara had prepared apples and some of the vegetables in advance as they had to stand overnight but there was plenty of chopping and mixing for us all to do. She explained the reasons for each stage to ensure good hygiene and effective preservation as well as balancing the flavours and textures.
We finished with more tea and cakes and each had three types of pickle to take home.

As the other reviewers have said, it was a great evening sitting in Sara's garden with Pimms and home-made egg mayo sandwiches, then getting to know her 23 chickens with lots of information and wrapping up with tea and an amazing Victoria sponge with her home made jam. It was so good to learn so much about the chickens and has made me more certain than ever that I'd like to keep them - just need to find a space!

Wow wow wow. A fantastic lady.
We are Disability Network Hounslow and we had so much fun making jam and scones on such a delightful day.

Go on, go and try for your self.

Sara was extremely welcoming and put me at ease immediately even though I was the only course attendee that day. I had a lovely time and was welcomed with a glass of Pimms and yummy home baked bread with egg mayo. Sara was very informative about chicken keeping and I learnt a lot that I couldn't really get online or from a book. Her hens were free-ranging in her beautiful garden in the sun - the perfect setting for the class. I went away with a goody bag with notes, yummy freshly laid eggs and a little pot of her own honey. Lovely stuff and all very inspiring
