“one of the best hotels I've everbeen to!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

My partner and I stayed at this hotel in June and had an amazing experience. We got a really good deal which was also a bonus! We went halfboard and weren't expecting it to be as good as it was. The main restaurant has a huge selection and the staff are so lovely. You have to visit the roof top restaurant tooas its €10 for a 5 course meal! Save room though as they are big portions.. the facilities are lovely and clean and our room was imaculate. The bar staff make the best cocktails. I would definitely recommend getting a car too which you can arrange at the hotel. I will definitely be returning next year for another relaxing holiday!

we travelled here via Thomson this august.
the hotel is perfect, rooms are spotless, staff are friendly. the ford in hotel is perfect with a massive choice.i made use of the gym and had a massage at the spa which was great.
lots of evening music and lots for children to do.
i may add that a couple of reviews I've seen, people have commented about tv channels available and no tea and coffee making facilities in our room.....but who the hell wants to sit in their room and drink coffee? maybe they should get a travel lodge on the m25 instead lol.
all round excellent experience :)

My family stayed at this hotel for the first two weeks of August and travelled with Thomson holidays. Everything was perfect. The hotel and rooms are very clean with plenty of room for two children in the room. The buffet restaurant had so much choice and the staff were so lovely and attentive. The two pools were quite busy with children but it was summer holidays and my children enjoyed making friends. The Greek nights were great with such a lovely atmosphere. The spa is well worth booking in to, with so much choice. The beach is nice with sunbeds and a beach bar, remember to bring seashoes as there are sea urchins. The sunsets at the hotel are breathtaking. We went on two trips organised by Thomson, one up into the mountains in a 4x4, up the hairpin bends, but the view from the top was amazing. The boat trip was really good, a great day out. We also hired a car for the day and drove right around the island stopping off at different beaches and the beautiful village of Panagia is well worth a visit. I have been to many Greek islands and this is my favorite island and hotel. Thank you to everyone at the Alexandra Beach for making it so special.

Just come back from the vacation. We stay 10 days at this nice hotel. Everything was fine, the food was very good, the water has 25-26 degrees, the rocky beach was perfect, the stuff was very friendly.
Two minor issues:
1. the cleaning stuff tries to make clean around 09.00 AM or between sleeping hours.
2. in my room on the walls and on the roof there were some dead mosquito, probably the just before me persons have some troubles and hotel stuff doesn't have time to clean the walls ...
I stayed in building 5, the room 519 with a parking view.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a garden view.

We travelled in the first 2 weeks of August and the issue with badly behaved other guests had very clearly been sorted. This is very much a European hotel, so if you like to sit around chatting to other british guests, comparing holiday prices and reading the Sun this is NOT the hotel for you!! We travelled with Thomson and were very impressed. Men do have to sit outside for dinner in 70+ degrees in long trousers, which seems a bit daft as there was no dress code for ladies. We travelled with an 11 year old girl and 14 year boy. The 11 year old had a great time and made friends very very quickly, however the 14 year old struggled a bit more. I know if he had bought a friend he would have had an amazing time with the pool and the beach as well as Potos being a 5 minute walk away. This would be an ideal place to take a 14/15/16/17 year old with a friend as it feels such a safe place and would be great to give them some independence before the thought of post A Level Ibiza strikes!!

Transfer
This was very efficient, coach to port (15 mins), ferry crossing (35 mins), then coach for about 45 mins. On arrival our cases were brought to our rooms and there was a bit of delay with this, so I would suggest you take suncream and cossies and then you can jump straight in pool without waiting for your bags!

Hotel
The beach is part of the hotel complex, so you can go from pool to beach in less than a couple of minutes, which is great. We had 2 rooms in the newer block - each room was about 5m x 4m so was plenty big enough for 4. Rooms were spotless and were cleaned every day and clean sheets and towels were provided daily as well. All public areas were also spotless. The gardens were meticulously maintained and it was lovely to be surrounded by herbs, fruit and vegetables that were used in the food in the hotel.

Beach
Loads of sunbeds and umbrellas, spotless toilets and a beach bar!!
Yes it is stony, but the quality of the water makes it an ideal places to snorkel and the children spent hours jumping off the jetties into the clear waters.

Food
This was consistently good, with a huge range of choice, although staying for 2 weeks it felt a bit repetitive. If I have to make a comment, food would be labelled for example "cheese omelette" however when my vegetarian daughter ate it, it actually contained ham!! This happened at least half a dozen times ...so be really careful. The range was so big that you could very easily slick to a diet, as there was always fresh fruit, fresh veg and meat, however you would need amazing will power, but it could be done!!

Pool
If I had to criticise the hotel, I would say that the main pool is too small for the number of guests (you do though have the option of the beach!!). Be careful of the "family pool" as it is actually very deep for younger children.

Spa
Don't bother having your pedicure and manicure before you leave, book yourself in on your first day and have them done in the SPA here at a fraction of the price!! great service and a lovely feeling of tranquility in this part of the hotel.

Prices
Things generally on this holiday were considerably cheaper than in say France or Italy. Eating out was cheap as were things in the local supermarkets... ice creams were also very cheap. Even the bar bill at the hotel at the end of the holiday seemed reasonable.

Would I go back - definately YES .... I would go back tomorrow
Would I recomend it - definately YES

The staff of the Alexandra Beach Hotel were all charming. The hotel and rooms were clean. However the pool area was quite small for the amount of guests and the sun beds were literally crammed together. The beach area made up for small pool although the sun beds were used by the guests from the adjacent camp site. The hotel provided irons, but not ironing boards, be prepared to improvise !

Room Tip: End of block rooms have much bigger balconies

Lovely clean room with excellent customer service throughout the whole of the hotel. Fantastic choice of delicious food at breakfast and dinner (we were half board). The hotel adjoins a shingle beach which is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and water sports. The spa is a real treat, I had a santorini hot stone massage with full use of the spa facilities for a fraction of the cost I would pay at home. The design of the hotel and facilities means that it never felt super crowded even during peak season. We hired a car for 3 days during our stay and were able to get out, explore, see a good chunk of the island and find our own private beach/cove.
The only improvement that I would like to see is the introduction of an adults only pool or swim time. It's impossible to have a proper swim in the pools due to the amount of children using them (it is their holiday too though) This however wasn't a real problem for me as I prefer to swim in the sea anyway.
We had a fantastic time and and would definitely return to this hotel - and we usually prefer to visit different places. It is a truly special place and we have come home with only wonderful memories.
