We booked the holiday 12 months ago, the cottage on site should have had a jacuzzi, travelling down from Sandbach to Portsmouth we had a phone call from Rookley Park saying we couldn't have the jacuzzi, following dicussions on the phone most of the journey they offered us FREE MEAL and bottles of wine to make up for it, WOW WEE, we arrived there for 15:30hrs but didn't have our keys until 17:00hrs, the staff on reception I thought could have been more customer friendly, also having stopped there there was no change of linen/towels, no I wouldn't reccomend this company to anyone, other than that the Isle Of Wight was GREAT

When we arrived we were impressed with the facilities, restaurant reasonably priced and reception area lookded clean. When we picked key up at 4pm we headed for the caravan and was very dissapointed that we couldnt get to accomodation due to narrow road and no where for anyone to park so we had to wait a long time for other guests to unload and move their car. I was shocked at state or caravan, the floors were dirty, mould on nets, bathroom was dirty. On the outside there was a leak from main water pipe which had caused a bog under caravan, there was no earthing rod to caravan, rubbish all around outside of caravan and old gas fittings laying on ground outside. I complained a number of times, they did clean carpets and sort out outside problems but it did take a few days to sort all this out. Location is good and thats about all really, would not return next year.

We went to Rookley last week of July, first impressions of the park was lovely with the lake and restaurant area. We picked Rookley as seemed local for everything which it certainly was and reviews on most camps are not good and Rookley at the time had the better ones. It was central to the island so made getting around easier with our young son. Rookley site is very clean and spacious. Parking was limited especially close by the caravan we stayed in. We upgraded the caravan but no perks, no early check in, free elecetric or bedding. The caravan is spacious enough, only thing that let it down it wasn't cleaned very well. It was a nice surprise to find 2 toilets in the van but they hadn't been cleaned and the shower area was dirty also. It seemed they were too concerned to make sure the utensils, cooker and microwave are clean as these were spotless although I would prefer a clean toilet and shower area for my family to use also. No big deal once these areas had been cleaned. The pool area was good although it was freezing which is off putting to go everyday as planned. The play area for the kids is good and plenty for them to do but could do with better lighting outside of an evening. Arcades had plenty of games and what we saw of the evening entertaiment was ok. Restaurant prices seemed reasonable but not a lot for your money. If you want a table there book in advance incase they are busy. The chip shop is handy on site if you are too tired to go out or cook. All in all we had a pleasant stay at Rookley and our son enjoyed everything there.

We recently visited Rookley for a 2 week family holiday in one of the larger bungalows. The general appearance and layout of the park is very good. It is clean and tidy and the decor looks fresh. The bungalows are a good size, although if 2 couples go one couple will have the short straw of having a small bedroom while the other would end up having the huge upstairs suite! There are 2 bathrooms which were clean and fresh and the general decor of the inside was good. My husband and brother enjoyed the fishing lakes and the car parking seemed OK. The location is excellent for visiting other areas/attractions on the Island as you are quite central.
Unfortunately what took the shine of the holiday were silly but annoying issues. When we were finally let into the bungalow we found we had been given the wrong key so my husband had to go back and exchange it for the correct one.The carpet cleaner hadn't been emptied so when we tried to use it it chucked out dirt, the oven door didn't quite shut properly, there wasn't enough mugs and we didn't have a clothes airier. There were a few other things as well.
It was such a shame because the staff are actually very helpful and when you complain things do get sorted out eventually. Maybe Rookly is short of staff but the attention to detail is lacking and it is a let down when you just want to go away and relax. We don't completely blame Rookley as it does seem that people do not respect the accommodation. (While we were there, another guest had pulled down the curtains in his bungalow and the reason for not having an airier is that allegedly guests steal them)
All in all though we had a good time and would probably go again.

I recently stayed here for the i.o.w festival as i thought being with the family we could take a shower etc.The site itself is ok with an arcade and mini golf with fishing also there. The pool is small and freezing but still ok.
When we arrived the check in time was 4pm,(which is late so remember that when you sort your travel arrangements out)we asked when our caravan would be ready and they said they would try and get the rooms done early because it was busy for the festival. Our room was ready by 2pm which we thought great news.Only to hear her say that in order to have the key they would be charging an extra £25 for the privilege! When we asked why as our room is already cleaned and ready to use they were very unhelpful saying that if we wanted it pay the £25.I could understand if it were really early but it was ready to go.Very poor management with loads of festival goers up in arms!!
When we got our caravan the rooms were not clean at all. There was still hair in the corners of the bathroom and they place was full of mould. The shower was broken and the toilet smelt of stale urine. Not nice. The carpet was so dirty, that where they had used carpet cleaner on the worst marks, it left little clean spots every where else.Very poor.
All in all i wouldn,t want to go back to this place again the location was ok but not good enough to oversee the rest of the dirt!!
