“Wake up in glorious clear mountain air to the sound of engines!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2013

We stayed for 3 nights around our booking to drive the Nordschliefe and weren't disappointed. This is a hotel for petrol heads and there were plenty of people walking around in race suits.

The room we had was at the top of the building (no lift) spacious, airy with an enormous bed, easy chair, desk and enough room to swing several cats! There is wi-fi but it was a little hit and miss in the room.

We had arrived fairly late and slept well with crisp cool mountain air coming in through the windows. We awoke to the sound of cars driving the Green Hell..... heaven to us!

The breakfast buffet is generous and with plenty of choice. There is a large area outside where you can sit and enjoy a glass of local wine.

The staff were all lovely and very welcoming.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems let them know when you book. No lifts, lots of stairs, high altitude...

We chose the Hotel zur Burg, Nurburg, for it's close proximity to the Nurburgring race circuit. It would also be a great place to stay for sightseeing and hiking, although bear in mind that you will be able to hear the cars racing at the circuit. Very happy with the the tariff too - considering it was so close (3 minutes) from the track, we thought it would be more expensive. We read one review where someone said that the owner was not particularly friendly and should stay in the background. If he was talking about Klaus Daniels, we disagree 100%. Klaus was very friendly, attentive and helpful and it was a pleasure to meet him. We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning (stayed for 5 nights), which was included with our room price. Good choice of breakfasts. We ate one evening in the hotel restaurant, very good. Other evenings we ate at the Pistenklaus at the Hotel am Tiergarten, mainly because our friends from the track were staying there but it was an exceptionally good restaurant and the steak on hot stone was fabulous. We also had drinks and ate at The Dorint hotel by the race track - very good. Our room had a view of the old tower/castle (we didn't get a chance to explore there), twin beds, television, good hanging space and drawers, desk and two chairs and en-suite bathroom with whirlpool bath and shower, w.c., sink, heated towel rail, hairdryer, illuminated magnifying mirror, constant hot water. We also had a seating area, coffee table, with television and dining table and four chairs and a small balcony with table and two chairs. No coffee/tea making facilities in room, although we did not ask if this could be provided. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel zur Burg.
When not at the race track, we drove around the area and visited Adenau, Cochem and Trier.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 114, which was in the new block. We can't comment on any other rooms as we did...

Stopped one night as was doing the ring, it's located just 3min from the main track and shops and the nurburgring entrance so realy is good location to explore just under the Nurburg castle.

The Hotel is clean and tidy very friendly staff and very reasonable, the food was in its own restaurant was simple but very good quality steak was one of the best i had in years! beer is cheap I wish I had stopped longer.

Loved it.

When you look on TripAdvisor for this hotel and type in the correctly spelled name of the town of NURBURG you won't find it. What a difference an E can make! This Hotel is in NURBURG! Not NUERBURG! There are several towns in Germany that are so close in spelling and many visitors get confused. When planning our trip to Nurburg and the Nurburgring, the first thing I was told by the race car rental company owner was to be sure to spell the name of the town correctly in our GPS. The owner said he gets at least three calls a week from visitors who are either in the wrong town all together or who are very lost due to the misspelling of the town's name!

At the last minute, we found ourselves in need of a hotel after a day at the Nurburgring. The Hotel Zur Burg was the closest to us at the time and looked idyllic from the outside---so we went there. The staff was so nice to us! The dinner and then breakfast was delicious and the Australian waitress was a delight to talk to. The hotel was nicely appointed and the rooms spacious and comfortable. The hotel is not fancy but very basic to meet your needs. We have stayed in other Nurburg Hotels and this hotel was a little less expensive which was a nice surprise. The hotel is very close to the entrance to the Nurburgring and just up the hill from the Rent4Ring office where we had rented our cars to drive on the ring. If I ever go back to Nurburg and the Nurburgring, I would stay at the Hotel Zur Burg again without hesitation.

A very European family run hotel that relies on the ring for its custom. However, for a bed for the night and somewhere to have a beer and a basic, but okay meal, it's ideal. Breakfast was adequate and enough to get going for the day. The twin room we had was two separate rooms within one room, but as I mentioned its only meant to serve as a bed and it did that fine. Would go back but would probably explore other hotels first before enquiring about this one.

Poor service. Basic but clean rooms.
Simple restaurant with the same menu for over 10 years. Plain and simple breakfast, but avoid eggs. Good location for both the Devils Corner and pit area on the GP track.
Huge and nice parking. Also plenty of room for trailers.

Room Tip: Select rooms in the newest building.

Stayed in room 100 named after Jackie Stewart, Room was a good size with a balcony and a view of the track. The room had a small fridge in the room and a good sized bathroom with a power shower. I found the owner and his family to be friendly and helpful. The entrance to the track is a 10 minute walk away as is the castle. There was a good selection for breakfast if the hot food was a little overcooked by the time I eat. Only complaint would be that the power shower should have been cleaner.

Room Tip: Half the rooms have a balcony so try for 1 of them
