Sarah and Gary are the perfect hosts, even recommending a Superb local resturant for our evening meal and then going the extra mile by offering to collect us after the meal.
The room was perfect with a dressing area as well as a beautiful ensuite and the extended breakfast menu was must unexpected and a very pleasant suprise as was the quality of the food. We loved the animals and could not resist saying hello to the Jack Russells and the Chickens.
All in all a wonderful stay, wished we had stayed longer

Weather was excellent closely followed by the accommodation. Breakfast's were as good if not better than anywhere previously visited. Sarah was helpful with places to visit offering sound advise on best times to visit, cost etc. whilst Gary ably assisted in the background. All diet requirements were carefully noted and delivered accordingly. Would happpily reccomend to family or friends and would certainly visit again when in the area.

beware if you dont' like dogs - there are 3 of the little blighters!! although very friendly they moulted like goodens!! the rooms were clean although a bit old fashioned - the guest lounge where we found a multitude of dog hairs on the coffee table and floor - the landlady asks you to remove your shoes on the carpets then you collect the dog hair on your socks - still it beats hoovering!! the breakfast was average only scoring 2 hairs ...sorry stars!! would not stay here again

ANSTRUAN, Owner at An-Struan, responded to this reviewResponded 14 June 2010

I`m very sorry ` Daisy Dunn` did not enjoy her stay with us at Anstruan. We try our best to make our guests as comfortable as possible. The guests in question actually asked to see Alfie, our pet jack russel, Nomally the dog is NOT allowed in the Guest Sitting room, I recall them laughing at him begging for attention.
We do not ask guests to take off their shoes, there is a tray for boots at the front door, for walking boots, brollies etc. We do not have carpet in the Guest Sitting room, wooden floor.
The bedroom extensions were only built in 2005, so I hardly call that OLD FASHIONED. We are graded Four Star grading from the Scottish Tourist board( last inspection 1/6/2010.
There is also an extended Menu to choose from for Breakfast, including Fresh Fruit Salad, Smoked Haddock,Kippers, everything freshly cooked to order. Scottish Breakfasts, fresh farm eggs.
Anstruan has people return year after year.,to be with us. We have been in the Bed and Breakfast business for 15 years. I trust people will read the Excellent reports as well as Daisy Dunn`s. opinion. Thanks for your time....:-) Sarah Knowles,Owner of Anstruan,Benderloch, near Oban.

Have just returned from a weekend in An-Struan. Weather was beautiful, as of course was Bonnie Argyll, which makes any break memorable.
But, from the marvellous breakfasts (BEWARE !!!) to the glorious log fire in the evenings, things couldn't have been better.
The 'Grumpy old man' wasn't at all grumpy......until his team lost on the Sunday !!!! Even the friendly little dogs felt chastened and had their tails between their legs for a little while. (I jest....do I ????)
Many thanks to Sarah & Gary. Patrick

You can easily compare how the b&b spirit changed in over ten years. This one (even if settled in a neighbourood of almost all b&b) could be an exception among those owners that becomes hosts on the business wave. Your room could be that of your uncle's summer house, and also breakfast and a very good welcome is assured.
