Spent 2 weeks in the UK and this was my favorite place to stay. The castle is so much fun and the common rooms are so much nicer than most other B&Bs. My only regret was not booking more nights there! You head up a windy staircase to your room which is very nicely decorated and spacious. The bathroom is Victorian without being overly done. The breakfast was fantastic and they were very friendly. I loved sitting in the small library in front of the fire. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The rooms in this castle are modern and lovely. The care from the proprietors is kind and careful. The breakfast is beyond all expectations. If you are lucky to stay here, you are in for a real treat.

Liz and Ronnie who run the castle are such lovely hosts and they could not do enough for you. we had the warmest welcome from Ronnie when we arrived who showed us around the castle and to our room, he gave us a really great 'how-to' overview about the room and the castle itself and also recommended a couple of places for us for dinner. he even gave us a sneak peak at the other rooms which weren't in use as I was being nosey.
the rooms themselves are stunning, they are all decorated completely differently from one another and every little detail has been taken care of, they are all furnished with unique antics and have finishing touches from a cute bespoke chocolate on the bed to slippers and cottons buds in the bathroom. we stayed in the caitness room which was right a the top of the castle and had a beautiful dressing room in the turret.
the beds are seriously comfortable and the TV a decent size, you could even get DVDs from the communal lounge area if you wanted too. the views here are also spectacular and the whole experience was amazing!!
breakfast was also incredible, Liz done a fantastic job of being hostess for breakfast running up and down the castle stairs and Ronnie done a brilliant job of cooking it. all the food was sourced from local farmers and was yum but you honestly could not want for anything with cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, jams and marmalade and a stunning cooked breakfast and more all on offer.
I did not want to leave here after one night, it definitely wasn't enough and I can't wait to go back!

The castle is situated in the beautiful Argyl countryside; the hosts Ronnie and Liz were friendly and helpful; the rooms are beautifully appointed; and there is a wonderful breakfast. Plus it's in a castle, how cool is that. Our kids had a fabulous visit and we had nice romantic evenings by the fire.

They were able to recommend nice local walks as well as places to eat and even suggested great side trips for some of out further forays into the highlands. Oban is a great base and we wish we had gotten to see more of the historic sights in the region.

Highly recommended. Don't just stay for one night.

Where do I start... it was a most wonderful experience staying at this amazing castle!

Firstly, the building is incredible, and it is such a privilege to be able to see inside this gem of a castle, and fantastic to be able to stay here!

Secondly, Liz and Ronnie are such great hosts, and add so much to the pleasure of your stay. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are so helpful and informative about the local area, as well as just being such nice people!

We changed our booking at the last minute to stay two nights instead of one, and were so glad that we did. The countryside around this area is breathtaking, but just being able to spend the evening in the castle relaxing in front of the open fire is enough reason on its own to visit!!!

The room was fantastic, and lacked nothing. The hospitality tray was generously and imaginatively stocked, the decor was perfect, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything was spotless and of the highest quality.

I have a B&B and will certainly be sending guests who wish to visit the west coast of Scotland straight to Ronnie and Liz without any hesitation!!!

Thank you Ronnie and Liz for the most wonderful, memorable time!! We will definitely return as soon as we possibly can, and sorry that it has taken me so long to write this review!!!!!

Room Tip: I am sure that they are all amazing. We had the Breadalbane Room, a large beautiful room, with four...

Barcaldine Castle was my splurge on my 40th birthday while traveling with my best friend. We stayed in Argyll and the room was lovely. The hosts were very welcoming, the bed comfortable, the shower divine, the porridge the best I've had. The castle is decorated beautifully and very appropriately. Will definitely visit again.

The castle is an easy drive through the Scottish countryside from Edinburgh. Fortuitously, the Laird of the castle was in residence the night we stayed, and he was the perfect host. The drawing room had a huge fire roaring and we had a few wines whilst learning the history of the castle and surrounding areas.
The included breakfast was superb. The rooms, the service and the ambience could not be faulted. An absolute highlight of the trip!
