This is a very special place in Scotland. You feel that sense of exclusivity and intimacy the moment you drive over the bridge onto the private estate. In true Relais Chateaux style, everything was very proper, classy and upmarket. We had a room at the top of the tower which is fine if you are fit to scale the numerous stairs. Gorgeous room with sitting area in front of the TV that has Sky and all the digital channels. Super comfy bed with feather pillows - mmmmm. Nothing was too much trouble. Kettles, irons, dietary requirements and they even made us a little Happy Anniversary cake with our coffee. The breakfasts were out of this world, the dinner menu alternates each night but there is not much choice. It is very "nouveau cuisine" but once you see that cheese trolley you'll be glad you haven't eaten too much. We had winter and summer during our 3 days there, tea out on the lawns under blue sky and sunshine and then curled up in front of the numerous open fires with a coffee and a book the following day. Mad weather! The Spa is fantastic, really big pool - great for a work out, Jacuzzi, Steam, Sauna etc and treatment rooms. If you like walking and photography this is a dreamy place. It's the attention to detail that is noticeable; wellies of all sizes, umbrellas, fruit bowl for a healthy snack, tea, coffee and home made shortbread available if you get the munchies.
