The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming. The gardens are gorgeous and beautifully maintained. Bures are spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would suggest the addition of doormats because we come back dripping from the water and end up walking sand through the room.

Food was a good variety, not a lot of choice for vegetarians, but anything could be negotiated. Fairly expensive but the remoteness needs to be acknowledged. There were plenty of activities within the resort and it was easy to snorkel straight off the jetty however the weather/sea conditions need to be right. If you plan to snorkel make sure you have tough soled booties because the reef has sharp rocks. Our best snorkelling was at Blue Hole 2.

Most activities outside the resort require a tour. The Mt Yasur tour was fantastic and the Kustom Village tour was really eye opening. Enjoyed both very much.

I have only one negative to report. We chose to do a Blue Cave tour. Our group travelled in 3 banana boats and anchored near the Blue Cave. The water was quite choppy and it was a little difficult to get into the cave. Fine while we were in there and then a hard swim to get back to the boats. The next part of the tour was to go to another part of the reef on the way back and then finish with the Turtle Reef near the resort. So on my boat, 2 people got sick and we skipped the next 2 stops returning straight back to the resort. The rest of the boats continued with the tour.

We were a bit disappointed that the decision to proceed with the tour was taken. The conditions were really not good. I understand that the resort would have arranged for the boats and it would have been difficult for the tour to be re-scheduled. We were not offered any apologies or compensation. You can't account for the weather, but I would have thought someone with the organiser's experience should have able to make an informed decision about conditions on the day.The tour wasn't cheap either!

The manager checked in with us each day to see how things were going, offered/promoted further tours and was generally friendly.

We were sad to leave but 7 nights was more than enough. Again the weather played a part in this. I think 4 or 5 nights would have been adequate.

I loved the feel of the place, the local people are so friendly. I didn't like the necessity for additional tours to be taken, adding to cost.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent trip to this wonderful resort. Wayne and Sabine were great hosts and the staff were always very attentive and friendly. The resort itself is beautifully situated and maintained and is only a short drive from the airport. Our accommodation (unit 1) was great....spacious and clean. We were able to experience some amazing diving and snorkelling in the pristine waters close to the resort. The scuba hire equipment was well maintained and looked near new. Of course the volcano, Mt Yasur, was a real bucket list experience. Just breathtaking, to be able to stand on the rim of this very active volcano! We stayed at White Grass for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute of being there.

Very much enjoyed the hospitality at White Grass. Beautiful setting and gardens. Comfortable and relaxed. We stayed overnight while visiting Mt Yasur volcano but could easily have stayed for many more days. Dive hotspot too but we didn't get to explore

Our family of four (2A and 2K) had a three night stay. Great place to see turtles (managed to swim with one during our visit) and tropical fish. Snorkelled off the jetty located at the resort and swan out to the reef with a local guide. Plenty of time to see all the fish and coral - no rush at all. Took a tour to the Volcano which was at level 2 and going off! Our kids aged 8 and 11 were not scared and very confident at rim. Simply spectacular. Highly recommend. We also used the badminton racquets (only 3 though so please buy another one), tennis courts and walked to blue hole for a snorkel. On Tanna there is no opportunity to travel around independently (ie: no buses like Port Vila or hire cars) so once at the resort that is where you eat, sleep and play unless you book a tour. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Menu choices change daily and they are happy to substitute. Also only 5 minutes from airport so if you do have flight cancel (we did) not far to go back to Resort for the extra night. Highly recommend this Resort. It would be the best on the Island.

Room Tip: We had room 10 - at the edge of the Villa's - very quiet and only 1 minute walk from main lodge.
