We recently stayed for a week at the Mango Rosa for a destination wedding. The accommodations and service at the resort were excellent.
Our 2 bedroom bungalow had a full kitchen but the convenience of the on site restaurant made it awful hard to pass up. The food was well presented, plentiful and tasted great. The selections were everything we could ask for but we usually never got past the daily specials, the service was right-on and the cost less than expected.
The Mango Rosa provided many opportunities for surfing, fishing, boat rides, ziplining, horse back riding and site seeing, as well as frequent trips onto the town of San Juan del Sur. The wedding, on the beach, and the dinner and reception, on site, came off with out a hitch. Despite the amenities the most impressive aspect about the Mango Rosa has to be the excellent staff. They came trough with every request, most times even suggesting a little bit extra. Even the transport crew made the long ride to and from the airport an experience in itself.
'Good Job' Mango Rosa.

We started out looking for the perfect Central American beach destination to hold a 20-30 person wedding. Ended up contacting the Mango Rosa, and from then on everything just came together into one incredible, amazing experience.

Have to start off by saying that the staff is fantastic. From the owners dealing with our booking arrangements (especially Greg who set up all the wedding details); the activities director Jonny helping us do anything we wanted (found us amazing waves all over the area); Mike the head chef and bar/restaurant manager who puts out some amazing food; Patrice who did a spectacular job on the bride's hair/make-up and makes one heck of a mojito; Celina who seems to do a little bit of everything - including make a ridiculously good cake; and all of the restaurant, security and cleaning staff who were so friendly and helpful. Every person we meet there was nice, pleasant and accommodating. Made you feel like you were among friends the whole time.

The setting is a bit in the middle of nowhere, which was exactly what we were looking for. After a 2.5 hour drive from the Managua airport (great transportation provided by a company that works with Mango Rosa), you turn down a dirt road, and 10 minutes later you are in paradise. It is a 10-15 minute drive to the really nice little beach town of San Juan del Sur for shopping and restaurants. There are two great beaches near-by. The closest is a 5 minute drive or 10-15 minute walk. This is where we held our wedding ceremony, and is a great spot for swimming and laying on the beach. The second is a 10 minute drive or 25-30 minute walk to Playa Maderas. Maderas has great surfing (at the right tide), tide-pools at low-tide, and a couple of nice little bars where you can get lobster nachos and drink Tonas all afternoon. Both beaches have amazing views of the sunset, and Jonny made sure we could get there and back pretty much whenever we wanted. Jonny also set our group up with a variety of great, really close activities, such as: zip-lining, sea-kayaking, sunset boat cruises, horseback riding, and an awesome day trip to Playa Hermosa which is yet another fantastic beach for surfing, lounging, and drinking in the sun. Although, most of the time the best spot to be was just passing the day away in the hammocks/pool/bar right there in Mango Rosa!

Our group used a lot of bungalows, and every one was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The brand new three-bedroom house at Mango Rosa, Casa Rancho Maderas, is especially nice. It has an amazing porch that we spent a lot of time on, including our wedding reception.

These guys were fantastic in dealing with our large group, and did a great job putting together our wedding. They are very accommodating and really made the experience as easy, fun, and enjoyable as possible.

We traveled to the Mango Rosa for my daughter's wedding. The Mango Rosa staff is beyond amazing. The food was awsome. I had originally thought I would do some cooking in our house. No way. The houses were well appointed and comfortable. I loved the privacy of each house yet the common areas were close to meet up with the group. Compared to an all inclusive we got a much better value for our money. The Mango Rosa staff put on a wedding and reception beyond my expectations. More food than we could eat! The table decorations were beautiful. The cake was made by a member of the staff and was stunning. I don't recall the last time I had so much fun at a wedding. A great value for your travel dollars.

My husband and I have never traveled out of the USA and were apprehensive when our son decided to get married in Nicaragua. The Mango Rosa facility and staff took away all of our fears and made our trip more wonderful than we could have imagined. Our house was clean and comfortable. We had a large group and it was amazing how everyone's needs were met. The surfers got attention as well as the shoppers and adventure seekers in the group. At different times there were people fishing, ziplining, horseback riding or sitting around the pool with a book. Transportation was arranged. The wedding itself couldn't have been better. I'm not sure of all of the emails and plans that took place before we arrived but everything went off perfectly. The personal attention that Greg gave to the wedding day impressed me greatly. We will always be appreciative for all that was done by Greg, Johnny, Patrice, Mike and so many others to make our week so special. Oh - and there is no match for Richard who not only provided transportation but gave us so much information about the area and a feel for the values and family ties that exist in Nicaragua. What a wonderful way for our son and his wife to begin the next chapter of their lives. Thank you!

Mango Rosa was well suited for our needs. The bungalow style houses are spacious with a separate living/kitchen area, large bathroom, and large bedroom. We stayed in a one bedroom unit and it was more room than we needed. The porch was great for reading a book and listening to the birds or group of monkeys coming through the resort. The resort is not huge, (only 12 houses I believe) so it was pretty laid back and you can meet and mingle the other guest. You can be as active as you like, or just chill by the pool. The food at the restaurant was excellent! We went into town several times to eat, but keep coming back to Mango because the food was so good! As others have said, its not beach front, and about a 15 minute easy walk to the swimming beach. About 20 minute walk to the surfing beach which is easy, except for the last killer hill you have to cross. But at the top of the hill there is a group of monkeys that hang out, so you can catch your breath watching them. If you don’t want to walk a shuttle comes through three times a day, or you can arrange a ride with the Mango staff. Getting back from town is easy also, by either the shuttle or a cab. The staff is super nice and will go out of their way to accommodate you. All you have to do is ask. Nicaragua is not for every traveler, but we loved the county, the friendly people, and Mango Rosa!
