The hotel part of Abisko Mountain Lodge is fine except that some of the rooms are very noisy and vibrating probably due to the fridges in the kitchen. This should be solved since sleeping is next to impossible due to this.
For Swedish standards the breakfast is pretty good and the food for dinner was excellent.

The cottages are another story. The one I lived in for one night had leaking piping between the toilet and the drain causing a less than nice smell.

We stepped off the train from Kiruna at Abisko Ostra and initially did not spot the sign for the mountain lodge. So we wandered around for 20 minutes trying to find it. In reality you can see it from the station, so I think a bigger sign is needed at the station to point you up the hill to the right, (don't head left towards the helipad!). There seems to be quite a bit of construction going on here at the moment on and around the rail track. The supermarket (which is a sweet lovers heaven, go there to understand what I mean!) is across the other side of the track from the Mountain lodge and sells all manner of things! Including hot chickens and Polar bread, yum!! :-) The menu at the lodge seemed nice enough but a bit expensive for us so we chose to eat in our room, snacks bought from the Shop. There is no TV, phone etc in the room, but is it beautifully clean but very basic. The hotel does believe it is a 'getaway from it all' including technology, however wifi is freely accessible in your room! It is a shame to pay so much for so little. Despite this, the trip to Abisko was relaxing. The breakfast was ok. Breakfast staff were friendly. We probably wouldn't return here, but may try one of the other rooms at the Turistation next time. One last thing, although I do not want to sound too negative, but the 'eco lights' in the bathroom which go on when you go in and then STAY ON for Ages after (not very eco friendly if you asked me! Especially when you need to pay a visit in the middle of the night and it illuminates the whole room for 15minutes even after you've left!!! Overall, bit expensive but it did the job of providing us with a warm room for a night while seeking out the elusive Aurora's! Oh the sauna is lovely, except it is split into separate rooms for male and female :-(

Room Tip: At the end of the hall?? Where there are no passing people talking late at night! Walls are thin and...

Visited this hotel for one night and thought the place was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful the food really good and the location for winter activities ideal. What more do you need.

We've just returned from an incredible long weekend in Abisko with the Mountain Lodge our base for 4 nights. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and immediately decided we'd chosen well. The Lodge open areas are cosy and friendly, inviting you to sit and chat with other guests, watch tv or read a book. A fire is the only thing missing but we're told it's planned in the extension.

Rooms are quite small as other reviewers have mentioned but when you spend your days out on excursions and your nights Aurora hunting you don't need luxury or a big space. What was missing was storage - a chest of drawers would have been great. At first glance we were concerned about the wet room but this wasn't an issue with the shower curtain ensuring the water stayed where it should and not the entire bathroom.

Mina and Dick were brilliant hosts, and Joanna was a friendly face behind reception/bar every day. They were all very informative and friendly. On one occasion we forgot to pack our lunch and Mina was only too happy to make us some rolls herself. There was an unfortunate accident while we were there (military aircraft crash) which meant our guide was understandably redirected to helping the mountain rescue however we didn't note any disruption to our activities and Mina and Dick themselves took us out to Aurora hunt one night.

Our meals were all included and the dinners were of a high standard. The soup was divine and the main meals were also very good. This is lovely food and the standard of a good gastropub or restaurant in London. Many tours groups visited just for the food and we had it every night!

Activities we're on the door step and the scenery was stunning. Olga took us snowmobiling and was great fun, Klaus walked us up the hill in snow shoes and was a lovely guide and the dog sled team were also great. And the Aurora - simply stunning!!!! What more could we ask for?! A night sitting on reindeer skins by a fire, sipping a warm drink and watching the Aurora is a night we won't forget. Unfortunately the Sky Station wasn't on form the night we went up but it was an experience in any case.

Overall Abisko is a great base and the Lodge is great accommodation which will be fantastic accommodation once the new additions are in. We hope to return in the summer months to see the other side to Abisko. Thank you Mina & Dick!

We stayed in a cabin here and found it very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent at both breakfast and dinner.....the moose filet was delicious. Our host and hostess were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We were staying there in the hope of seeing the Aurora but did some snow activities during the day, which was lots of fun. The Aurora put on a brilliant display for us one evening so it was all good as far as we were concerned.

Room Tip: The cabins were roomy and well equipped.

A very warm welcome awaits you and although the present rooms are very basic and lack storage space, they are clean and there was adequate supply of hot water. The bar/lounge area was comfortable but could do with more seating space. However any inconvenience in these areas was completely made up by the wonderful home-cooked food and fabulous staff with a real " can do" attitude - so refreshing, they really went the extra mile to meet our needs. There are building renovations planned to create more rooms and this will improve the quality of the accommodation, making this a really excellent place to stay and see the Aurora- we were lucky to see it 3 out of the 4 nights we were there

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a holiday package. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are small but to be honest they are more than sufficient as most of the time we were out.
The location is stunning, we went on a long hike one of the days and it is the most beautiful place i have ever been.
We had 2 nights up at the sky station and saw an amazing display of northern lights both nights.
The food was absolutely amazing. I am vegan and the rest of my group are veggies and they catered for us brilliantly.
The best bit about our stay has to be the friendliness of the owners and staff. Mina and Dick are absolutely lovely people and made us feel very welcome. I also have to mention one of the staff, Klaus, who took us ice climbing, he is a great guy!!!
I would absolutely, without a doubt, love to go back to Abisko Mountain Lodge. I cannot recommend it more highly!!
