The highlight of this hostel was the staff. There was a mix up with out booking for one of the activities, which the staff took very seriously and we received a prompt refund and complimentary gift bag. However, the rooms were quite expensive for what is essentially a basic hostel but understandable given it's great location.

We stayed early November which meant it was not in season at the time so very little activities on offer.
The room was great - very big, tea and coffee, towels, warm, good views but 2 single beds not a double.
Great place if you like hiking, the dog sledging and all other activities aside from the chairlift and photography were not running so not much to do around the place.
And unfortunately no northern lights on our trip

I would recommend this place in season.

A beautiful location to spend a few nights. We had a room on the first floor with a view towards the lake. I thought the rooms would be quite noisy but I had a great nights sleep here – better than in any other place I stayed in Sweden! The rooms are fairly basic but well maintained and clean. There are lots of common areas to read or to have a drink and the on-site shop is quite good. We preferred the food in the bar (ate Abisko Chilli) to the restaurant as it was more relaxed (and a little cheaper!!).

Room Tip: For a great view ask for a lake view room

Stayed here for one night in one of the single rooms (with ensuite). The rooms are basic but comfortable and the room I stayed in had a great view of the the national park/lake.

For the standard of the rooms the rates are a little overpriced but the location (right across the road from the Abisko Turiststation train station) is great for hiking, you can walk to the chairlift that takes you up to the sky station and the staff were friendly and can assist with organising both daytime and nighttime tour activities.

Breakfast (a buffet) was included and each day you can enjoy a set menu lunch and/or dinner.

My cabin was ~250 USD which is a good amount of money. For that amount of money this cabin was very poor. It was VERY dated, extremely sparse, few amenities, no towels, no bed linens, etc. I had to clean it from top to bottom myself or risk a huge fee. Really for that amount of money I need to clean everything... come on. The lights were dim and flickered on and off, seriously the cabins need a MAJOR renovation. Bathroom had mold and just a very dirty old look and feel. I do not see how people said the cabins were good. Again, if this was half the price, given the location, which is amazing, I would not have an issue with this place. Everything had a fee, late checkout had a price... We requested a cabin with a view months in advance and was told OK several times, then when we got there, we got different stories, only for large families (all cabins looked to be same size), then they were being serviced so we got stuck with a cabin with crappy views of the cabins with a view. For aurora viewing not the best either, lots of lamps all over the property which show up as bright as the moon during aurora photos. Sadly there is not much choice around the area, I guess they know this and charge a hefty fee since you have little choice accommodation wise. Cannot recommend this place.

Room Tip: cabins are overpriced and old

I have stayed here both in the winter and summer. The hostel is busy and has a family friendly feel to it, the staff are helpful and approachable. There is a nice bar and restaurant with a great view out onto the Torneträsk lake, ask when they open and close for lunch and dinner, iv’e been caught out a few times. There is also a sauna, reading room, lounge, equipment rental, shop, washing machines and a TV room. Book early especially during the winter, accommodation is limited in Abisko.

Very friendly staff and a good infrastructure for hiking tours: shop, information center with guided tours, drying room and wash machine. Camping ground, hostel or hotel standard and a good restaurant is located nearby the train station, lake and national park center. The hostel rooms are basic but good and clean. Even the hot steam is included. I can recommend this place for hikers.
