<Utgard Camp>
From the moment we were collected at Ivalo Airport by the tour guide, Andrew, he made everyone happy and comfortable. The long drive through (almost) deserted snow and ice covered roads was made even better by Andrews knowledge and entertaining character. We stopped off at a supermarket on the way so that we were able to stock up for the next 4 days/4 nights. The cabin was basic but perfectly good and more importantly warm (especially the sauna!). The first night is spent on camp settling in and we were treated to a lovely Aurora display when we were on the site, we spent some time in the 'Lavvu' (large teepee thing with a fire in it).
Tuesday was a drive to the Sami Museum in beautiful sunshine with mile after mile of snow, trees and blue skies with the occasional car and reindeer! The centre was interesting and included a lunch (one option included reindeer). That night we were treated to a fantastic display of Aurora activity right over our heads on the camp and spent the entire evening on camp and on the adjacent frozen river looking up and trying to photograph the dancing lights in the sky. It was quite an intense storm and was quite spectacular to watch and tricky to photograph as it was all over!
Wednesday involved dog sledding which we decided to miss and go for a walk instead, but by all accounts it was fun and involved cuddling puppies! We walked to the local village and had something to eat and drink before venturing over the border into Norway. We went back to the cabin for tea and a rest before heading out at 7:30 to find a good spot to try and see the aurora again and make it 3 days in a row... we ended up on a little road with a good view which Andrew said had promise. It wasn't really happening and the snow plough that appeared forced us to move on, but not before some fun and laughter in the waist deep snow. Andrew drove us for a little while and then said that the we might be in a good place and there was a large lay-by. He wasn't long as soon after the lights were there doing their dance and making it 3 days in a row! :-)
Thursday consisted of a drive to the Midgard camp where the snowmobiles lived... We got suited up and headed out onto the frozen river/lake. We took it in turns driving (and falling off and laughing!) and after a couple of hours headed back for coffee and 'monkeys' (cardamom ring doughnuts). That night we decided to BBQ all the food/meat that we had left (bought too much) in the Lavvu and Andrew went and bought some reindeer steaks for us to try. After a smoky banquet we got ready for the final evening... the weather was looking a bit cloudy and snowy so after checking the weather forecasts Andrew suggested that we head North West in to Norway. After about an hour or so we found a suitable place to stop and look for breaks in the cloud as we had seen odd small ones as we were driving. Andrew did his little 'lady lights' chant and quite soon afterwards there she was...! 4 days out of 4!!! :-) more photographs and after lots more dancing lights it calmed and we decided to head back.. needless to say 20 minutes later the van pulls over and Andrew jumps out shouting 'Aurora! aurora! Right above us' so we all piled out of the van and there it was a spectacular multi-coloured display for another 15 minutes.
Friday was sleep in, pack up and tidy day, then the drive back to Ivalo Airport... :-( we didn't want to leave..............

Fantastic week, fantastic setting, fantastic guide/company. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from an absolutely amazing week in Finnish Lapland courtesy of Aurora Tours. We can only endorse everything that has already been said by the other reviewers....if you want to see the Northern Lights this is the company to go with. But it's not only the lights, and we did see them several times, it's the whole package. Great guides, the company of fellow guests in the Kota each evening enjoying the fire and nipping out to see if the Aurora was visible, snowmobiling and walking through spectacular scenery and across frozen rivers and lakes. We LOVED it. Thank you Tony and the whole team.

We stayed at the Asgard site - lovely cottages and the huge benefit of having Tony as our guide. He's the boss and runs the whole show with a calm, relaxed, well organised, funny and reliable approach. He's also a really good driver which is good!
We saw Aurora all 4 nights, with one excellent night ably assisted by Tony getting us to the right place at the right time.
We only did the snowshoe additional activity but it was wonderful - its good to be at least of average fitness for this, but its a short walk even though its uphill so everyone should be able to make it to the top,and the views and wildlife really make it worthwhile. The snowshoes are really easy to use.
The snow suits and snow boots, hats and gloves provided for Aurora watching are a great help in keeping warm when out in the evening.
Tony is really delighted by making your few days special and is a great host guide / leader - leaves you alone if thats what you want, talks if thats what you want, answers questions at will. He also provided us with photos and a video of our good viewing night as we left on Friday.
The other people on the tour were lovely, although you only see them in the evening to go and find Aurora together, or on the additional activites.
So I suggest you book, just book ahead, book your flights as soon as you can, and look forward to an awe-inspiring and relaxing break.

Just back from a fabulous week in Midgard. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the Northern Lights. From the moment Daniel collected us from the airport we were well looked after. We saw the Aurora 3 nights out of 4 despite a lousy weather forecast due in no small part to Daniel ' going the extra mile ' . Although the lights were the obvious highlight of the tour we also had a great time Dog Sledding and Snowmobiling . The Cottages were warm and comfortable. We made good use of the snowsuits and boots provided. If you are looking for a Northern Lights Tour do not hesitate to book this one.

We just arrived back from Midgard (full of holiday blues) and the first thing we just had to do was to confirm all the hundreds of five star reviews this company has.

When booking our trip, we had ridiculously high (and in terms of any other holiday - unrealistic) expectations. But we were left positively speechless with every single thing that happened.

I had decided to propose to my girlfriend under the Northern Lights and Aurora Service Tours really went the extra mile (champagne and a meal - they genuinely care about your enjoyment of the trip and making each experience one to remember) to make it truly special, in particular our guide Dan. With his help I managed to surprise my girlfriend under the lights themselves and get a photo of this unforgettable moment. The way he took care of us and the other guests was exemplary. In fact, we would go as far to say that he made the holiday and would not hesitate to go on one of his tours in the future. When it came to the husky sledging and snowmobiling, Dan made sure everything ran smoothly and safely. His enthusiasm ensured that every person in the group enjoyed their time and had the greatest chance of seeing the lights (one night he even drove into Norway). He also guided us to see a spectacular show of the lights on our first night chasing them. We felt honoured to have Dan share our special moment with us and are confident that he has found his calling within the tourist industry!

There should not be a single hesitation when booking a tour with this company, as the personal touches, passion and enthusiasm will ensure you the best and most unforgettable experience of your lives! We are already trying to arrange to go back for our honeymoon next year 😀
