It has been a long time since I have eaten here and what a change. What used to be the restaurant is now the function centre which has the best view when seated. But on a day to day basis they use the bistro and cafe underneath the restaurant. While it has some good views it does not rate nearly as well as the venue on top. We booked into the bistro for lunch and it disappoints me to say that with my chicken parma i was treated to cold chips. This was a first for me! Otherwise the food was great and the service was very good. They did replace the cold chips with hot chips, but by that time the others were nearly finished their meals. One thing that I did not like was that you had to pay $5 just to get your car into the venue. From the outside you could get a fantastic view of Melbourne.

I had a really lovely lunch on Sunday the 6th of July in the café at SkyHigh. After walking in from thick cloud covering the mountains, I was greeted by friendly staff who seated us in front of the open fire. It was lovely and cosy with a warm atmosphere. The staff and service was amazing, we had our lunch brought to our table within 10 minutes of being seated, and it was very moreish. The portion sizes were very generous and arrived hot and fresh and very yummy. There was always a smile on the faces of the staff and nothing was too much trouble for them. My family and I had a great day and I highly recommend dining at SkyHigh.

I visited SkyHigh Mount Dandenong restaurant during June 2014, for a family lunch. I wanted to book somewhere special, as my elderly grandparents were also down from the country. The drive up the mountain and the views from the top were wonderful, however this is where the positive experience stopped.
We had a reservation for seven and were seated at our table, it had a view as I had requested upon booking. We ordered, one person in the group was a vegan and they provided him with options as organised with the kitchen, which was satisfactory. Then the wait started, we waited over an hour from ordering to the food being served to our table. Groups of 2-4 were being seated, ordering and receiving their food before ours had arrived. Well it didn't go as the saying “good things come to those who wait”.
Of the six different meals ordered, only two were satisfactory, being the fish tails and chips, and the chicken parmigiana. The risotto made to be vegan was bland, the vegetables were not cooked, it was also the size of an entree in an over-sized plate. The porterhouse steak, was ordered to be medium rare, but was served well done, the fried potatoes were 3-4 little circles of cardboard on top and the seasonal greens consisted of a couple of green beans. The grilled fish of the day (barramundi) was cooked well, however there was no roasted cauliflower to be seen on the plate, the vinaigrette had a bad taste and the dish was simply not as described on the menu. The chicken maryland was ordered off the specials menu and despite the chicken being cooked well, there was not much else to comment on, as there wasn't much else on the plate.
When ordering we had already eyed off the desserts menu but after waiting such a long time for mains to arrive and then being so disappointed we decided to leave and go elsewhere.
No apology was provided for the wait, no check in on how our meals were going, no questions at the end of the meal, no offer for dessert. Overall a very poor service and if it wasn't for the view it would have been a very disappointing day.

It was our anniversary and we wish we never went! We were placed near a wall not near the window where no one was sitting. I became sick from dairy not listed on their menu. Left and found that tyre was slashed by spikes on exit. Not going back!

It is unfortunate that the supervisor spoke to you on a number of occasions during the night to make sure you were enjoying your meals and was not informed of any issues. In relation to the exit spikes, 1,000's of cars pass over these exit spikes every week and we have never had a problem with them - the only way tyres can be slashed with spikes is if they are backed over or driven on the wrong way.
Thank you.

We have taken groups of people (12) to the Sky High restaurant several times for lunch and have always had great food, a great welcome and great service. We work with carers who are caring for a person with a acquired brain disorder and we want their respite getaway to be a great experience with great food and that is what we always get at the Sky High restaurant.
In winter the huge open fire is welcoming and warming and we will continue to take our groups there.
