My boyfriend and I stayed in the Sanctuary Tower and it was absolutely amazing - the room offered everything pictured on the website and more, down to thoughtful details such as having the fire on and music playing when we arrived. There were even heart shaped ice cubes! The area is gorgeous, with plenty of excellent restaurants in the area. The only slight downside to the trip was the breakfast (which was included in the price). Although we could specify a time for it to be delivered, it was early both mornings, which meant a very abrupt waking up to the sound of the doorbell! The portions weren't great either, I had a very small bowl of cereal and one tiny cup of jam between the two of us. All in all though, that was a minor detail, and the rest of the stay was very enjoyable. The spa, sauna and walk in shower were heavenly (and clean). A very romantic weekend!

We spend a weekend in the Sanctuary Tower to celebrate my birthday and our stay was absolutely wonderful. From the relaxing deep spa, the warming gas log fire and the spectacular view of the forest from the bedroom - it was blissful! The beautiful photos on their website are true to form!! All the added touches made the stay even more pleasant - the complimentary bottle of wine, the comfortable robe, a surprisingly good range of dvds and not to mention the delicious cooked breakfast. Even though the accommodation was on the expensive side, the whole experience was luxurious and worth it for a special occasion. I will definitely be recommending Linden Gardens to all my friends and family.

A little bit of a delay in posting this review, but my husband and I stayed here on our wedding night in April'09 and just loved it. Alex and Lisa were a pleasure to deal with before hand and as our arrival was late (around 11.30pm) arrangements were made for us to the collect the key when we arrived. We were absolutely exhausted from our big day when we got there and it was absolute bliss to find Linden Cottage warmly lit and looking so welcoming when we opened the front door!
The cottage was perfect and so nice and cosy. We were able to relax, chill out in the spa and enjoy the lovely gas log fire in the living room. It was the perfect end to a great day.
Breakfast delivered to our room was delicious and substantial and we loved the little extras such as the bottle of sparkling wine and handmade chocolates.
Definitely a special place to stay.

My partner and I stayed in Linden Cottage for one night and absolutely loved it! From the moment we stepped in the door we felt right at home in the luxurious surrounds, beautiful King size bed, amazing spa over looking the gorgeous bush garden/ fernery, big comfy couch, a complimentary bottle of wine, total peace and tranquility.. the road is close but you can't hear it... Huge TV and great DVD collection... I cannot rave about this place enough - we loved it! It just felt good, the robes were lovely, slippers were nice... lovely bath products... the spa was perfect! Everything was clean, well looked after and high quality...

We had massages in the room and thoroughly enjoyed them, would highly reccommend spending the extra money, it makes an unbelievably relaxing evening, even more so..

Breakfast was huge, it was very filling and we enjoyed it, not gourmet but was lovely to have it delivered to our room.

The only disappointment with Linden Gardens was the owners (I assume they were the owners), when we went to finalise our bill in the morning, they were really unfriendly and made me feel uncomfortable... The woman breezed passed and said something about someone helping us soon and the husband (I assume) was just as unfriendly and dismissive, perhaps we caught them on a bad day....

Don't let that stop you though! Linden Gardens is a fabulous place to stay. We will def go back, we loved Linden Cottage so much it's unlikely we'll try another cottage!

Many apologies - we are mortified that you felt that way. Your initial encounter was with a cleaner who shouldn't have been in reception and my husband may have been suffering sleep deprivation as we have a new baby. We have put steps in place to ensure that it doesn't happen again (including my husband getting some more sleep!). I hope this instance hasn't put you off returning, we truly do value our guests.

We had stayed here back in 2002 and loved it and thought we would stay once more. When we arrived I noticed straight away that the gardens had overgrown and the roof of the building was littered with leaves, which is understandable as the area is very leafy with beautiful trees, but I think this should be a regular maintenance task.

Check in was efficient and quick with no chit chat .There are three suites here ours was creatively decorated and warm with the gas log fire burning and lights on. Lovely views through the windows of the surrounding trees but unfortunately the windows were very dirty with spider webs covering most of them, yes they are high up but there are extendable brushes that would do the job and again should be regular maintenance.

Great spa in the lounge with a huge plasma TV and great selection of DVDs. Small bathroom with shower that had mould around the base which needs a good scrub. Upstairs another gas log fire with king bed and small TV, that had really bad reception unable to use and again creatively decorated. The king bed is actually two singles joined together which sag in the middle were they join but okay and quite comfortable.

Breakfast is made and delivered to your suite as there is no kitchen. This was okay but no fruit, yogurt or loose leaf tea which is what you normally get at a BB it was more like a motel breakfast with sachets of jam, Vegemite and margarine although there was plunger coffee which was nice.

Overall our visit was relaxing and peaceful, bit of road noise but not to bad as we were in the back. But I would not visit again and will try somewhere else it just did not measure up to our last visit which had afternoon tea on arrival and a real gourmet breakfast more attention to detail, there are new owners since our last visit. Claiming to be 5 star accommodation it needs to offer more than the average BB and unfortunately it does not a shame as it has a lot of potential being in lovely surrounds.

We apologise that this couple did not have the experience that they remembered in 2002.

When this couple had stayed in 2002 it was owned by other people. We purchased the property in 2006 when it was very run down and the gardens were very over grown. We have refurbished all the suites to the style and quality that you now see on our website and the majority of the gardens have been restored.

I acknowledge that when they stayed in the first week in January there was some debris on the roof and webs on the windows (a constant struggle in the forest), as our gardeners and window cleaners were on holidays over Christmas. Both were attended to on their return the following week. Over the next 2 months the whole exterior of the property and the roof are being painted.

Check-in is always friendly and easy, I'm not sure what kind of chit chat they may have been expecting. Cleanliness is on top of our list of priorities and every suite has 1.5 hours spent on it for cleaning after every stay and spas are hygienically cleaned with spa giene after every guest. If there was mould there, it certainly isn't there now.

The TV in the bedroom is a 19" LCD Digital HD TV, unfortunately they switched it from the digital channels to analogue reception hence the bad reception and we would have been more than happy to assist if they were having problems. The two king singles are in the Garden Retreat but we have not had any comment before about a sag in the middle as they are zip locked together with two thick woollen underlays on the top.

Our breakfast is far from a motel breakfast with all local produce and consisting of a choice of cereals, toast with spreads, eggs cooked the way you like, sausages, bacon, tomato, mushroom and french toast. As the cooked breakfast is quite substantial (we don't skimp on portions) we find that there is plenty of choice for people. We are always happy to cater to any special requests and we cater to specific dietary requirements by having a separate vegetarian, gluten free and vegan menu. The butters, jams and vegemite are individually sealed portions but this is to comply with health & safety standards that do not allow us to spoon portions in a bowl.

In all suites there is complimentary fresh ground plunger coffee, hot chocolate, granual coffee and decaf coffee (some people prefer it), 9 types of Twinings teas and locally made Belgian chocolates. A selection of local loose leaf tea can be purchased from the mini bar in the suite.

We don't do afternoon tea as this is no longer popular and instead we offer a complimentary bottle of Yarra Valley wine and a Linden Gardens Pamper Pack with bubble bath, bath salts, bath oils, loofah, mesh sponge and foot pumice.

I feel that this particular guest was hoping for an old world B&B experience which with a younger clientele I would concur that we do not provide, but if you would like some other points of view you can see more reviews on the RACV website where we were voted no. 18 in Victoria's 101 must do experiences. We were also a Finalist in the 2008 Victorian Tourism Awards.
