We ended up at this hotel after a couple of others in the guidebook weren't available--we were traveling by car and making reservations just a day ahead of time for the next place we were planning to stop. This hotel was just beautiful. Striking bedroom, with the partial red wall, spotless, nice little patio area. Beautiful grounds, short walk to the excellent, very clean beach, nice pool. We did drive to Mondo Gordo for dinner (I think that's the name??) because there wasn't much around the hotel and we do like to walk around and get a coffee after dinner. I think because it was off-season, the rate was very, very reasonable for the kind of place it was--less than 100 Euros, and I think closer to 80...anyway, we were very happy with the place. Excellent, very friendly desk staff, who went out of their way to be helpful. Let us borrow an umbrella for the beach, and we were able to get large beach towels by leaving a deposit, as we had none of that stuff with us.

Just a gorgeous place to stay. It is a bit removed from any town square--you have to drive to get to a more lively area, but we had a car so this was no problem.

We just got home from a 3 night stay in October. The hotel suites are clean and comfortable but what makes this hotel special is the attentive and friendly staff and the 'little extras' - as well as the beautiful natural surroundings. We had a picnic included in our reservation that was perfect for the beach - a gentle stroll away through a verdant pine forest. The weekly weather forecast and a bedtime story was left in our room every evening, which is a nice touch.

The location is between the two towns of Altura and Villa Real - both good for shopping and fish restaurants, and it was nice not to be in the centre of town. The beach is totally unspoilt, clean and goes for miles in both directions so no need to be on top of other people if you don't want to. We also had the pool to ourselves - being October. Only negative is no wifi in rooms.

The hotel is lovely, the rooms ample with space and facilities. The kitchenette was useful but with no supermarkets near by, it was hard to think about cooking! The location is VERY quiet, this maybe due to the time of year we went (September 13) as there were no bars to go to which had any music or atmosphere. You have to travel to nearest towns - Monte Gordo has a casino but that's all. Long walk to beach - quite isolated area and when walking back at night, you will need a torch! Staff were helpful, providing information about travelling to nearest towns by bus - we did Tavario - nice but again, no real nightlife. This was my first time to this area, having been to the livelier ports in Portugal, we won't be returning. Shame. Seville was gorgeous and this is only an hour and half away - we managed to find a tour operator in Tavario as our hotel could not arrange this for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view! You will then be on top floor (only 2 floors) and can see the sea!

Located in a beautiful resort inside a pine wood and very near the beach this hotel offers you a comfortable stay in a all suite layout, with nice enough rooms. Some are in need of a refurbishment and the rooms are somewhat small, but the idea is to take advantage of the wonderful exterior pool and pool restaurant and bar, as well as enjoy one of the best beaches in Algarve. Miles and miles of white sandy beach with a warm sea.
In the summer there are several different good restaurants by the beach or you can just eat outside near the pool. The hotel food is not exceptional but it won't hurt your stomach or your wallet.
Breakfast is adequate for a 4 star hotel with real eggs and nice homemade bread.
Service is very welcome and warm. Everybody is nice and ready to help you. The only minus was the late cleaning of the room, sometimes after 1pm.
I definitely recommend this hotel and all the area around it.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room on the second floor far from the middle to avoid noise.

The localization of the hotel is so Nice if you long for holiday without car, with beach and in a quite area! It is 10 min walking to the beach. We have been staying there in the last 3 years and we consider Praia Verde one of te best in the Algarve area. It is a typical long sandy beach with the most warm water (in summer) you can find in Portugal, simply great for children because the sea is almost without waves. You have great restaurants at walking distance from the hotel, on the beach like Pezinhos na Areia, O Infante and in the next beach, Sem Espinhas. The other great thing about the hotel it is its dimension - small so not much confusion.
Breakfast is great and restaurant options are good (not cheap).
The hotel is going under renovation currently and the outside and common areas are very nice...
The suites will be renovated after Summer and they really need. The area is ok but the furniture is getting too much used and not well mantained. They told us that the sofas are now being changed in June and the rest of the furniture after Summer, so it should get much improved. TV offer is poor because of low signal and wireless is free in the reception area but signal is not the best (it is ok for general use, more difficult for VPN connection, but sometimes you get it).
I strongly recommend Praia Verde and the hotel considering the renovation they are caring (for me it is the best hotel in the area)
