“Breathtaking views!”
Reviewed 25 November 2012

We didn't actually take the tram over to Dursey Island, but rather hiked up the hills on the mainland. It was absolutely spectacular! Some spots are quite steep and you are sharing the paths with sheep, which added to our enjoyment. It was quite windy and cold, but it was sunny and clear (in September) and it was a great few hours! Even if you don't care to go for the more arduous hiking up the hills, there are wonderful views available. The rocky coast is quite dramatic, with the water crashing on the rocks. The higher up you are willing to hike, the better the views. Loved it!

“Dursey is Beautiful”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

Most amazing island for wonderful walks. loop walk is 14kms. But first you have to brave Irelands only cable Car, which is operated by Paddy. There is a limit of 6 people per trip on cable car and it operates regularly during the summer.
It is advisable to bring your own packed lunch as there are no cafes on island.

“Great day out”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

After a novel trip on a cable car trip , the walk to the end of the island and mountain route back makes for a great day out.bring all your supplies and might be worth phoning ahead to ensure the cable car is running. If you are in a rush back dont wait until 4pm or after as the queue for the cable car can be 45 mins plus.
Views and experience well worth as one of your days in west cork

“Well Worth a Day Trip”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

Plan well as a full day out , food, sunscreen & clothes/footwear suitable for the terrain and weather. Cablecar is brilliant and locals will chat away. Great to see some of the houses being worked on and the walk to the end of the island is worth it , enjoy the Bus Stop signs!

“Quirky thing to do in the corner of the penisula”
Reviewed 29 August 2012

You can use Dursey for a few things.... stop off on a coastal road trip ... place to stretch legs and looks out to see / picnic / watch livestock getting shoved into a cable car (and booting out tourists as 'locals' have priority, rightly so) . I wish I had stayed the night in 'windynook b and b - who also do evening meals, as nothing else nearyby', and then gone over to the island first thing the next morning, to do the circular walk'. There are loos on landslide, and cycle-bike parking.
