“For Tour de France 2014”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

The town was very busy post Tour stage. We had to wait for a table but this was not for too long.

We were served promptly and drinks were taken quickly.

Although very busy the serving was prompt.

Really great steak and sea food pasta. Excellent children's meal too.

In all a great experience in a lovely evening setting on the town centre.

Finished a great day.

“Never Again”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

We've been visiting Guillestre for years and always found Regain a cheap and cheerful option for a pizza. After an 8 hour drive I craved a simple beer and a pizza so we booked for Regain, but the experience was so disastrous we walked.

We were seated grumpily and left for 20 minutes with only a menu. No drinks, no plan. The staff were rushed off their feet and clearly very stressed. I finally attracted someone's attention to ask if we could order. With a heavy sigh the waitress raised her pad, then rushed away to deal with something else with no explanation, without taking our order.

We were then presented with a small simple pizza which we hadn't ordered. It turned out that this was a sorry present to give us something to nibble while we waited but rather than make a virtue of it, when I queried it (worried someone else was missing food they had wited hours for), the waitress picked it up and slammed it down on another table muttering something like 'well if you don't want it someone else can have it' .

It was gone 10pm by this time and we hung on thinking this was our only option. When it finally came to ordering the combination of poor grace and the waitress's insistence on correcting my French drove us to walk out anyway.

And in case you were worried, we were eating a delicious pizza in Chez Antoine, just across the square, within 15 minutes, served by a calm and smiley waitress....

“I would walk to the next”
Reviewed 2 January 2012

While the interior is quaint and typical, the food is not always at it's best.
It is also painful to have to say that a friend and I found a cockroach in our food once.
Old buildings imply insects and, it might be tolerable to see one on te floor...but not served for lunch.
