I am an artist (composer) who wanted to have no noise and the inspiration of the sea at the window. This cottage was simply perfect. A short walk to the village will get you supplies. If you want to get away it is lovely! Excellent for either romantic couples or singles. I will definitely come again if i wish for another artistic getaway. The main room of the cottage is linked openplan to the kitchen, so that the whole has a very large feeling of expanse and privilege and comfort. The main bedroom (though other bedrooms sleep many more than one) was luxuriously comfortable, and sheets/towels were changed on request. I was also left alone by the cleaner on my request, and no problem was expressed with that, which made me feel even more welcome and respected. Comfort, quiet, the sea literally at the end of a short garden out the window... privacy... and the beach right there to walk on any time of day or night. The owners were easy and charming to deal with. It is all thoroughly recommended! I look forward to my next artistic retreat!

What an absolute gem to find.....I couldn't recommend the cottages highly enough..staff so welcoming, made us feel at home straight away, we stayed in Little Orchard (myself, husband and 3 boys) it was so spacious and comfortable and only a stone throw away from the beach, which was beautiful... Perfect little holiday :)

When the gate opened to allow our entry into The Cottages, we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the gardens and immaculate grounds. We stayed in Thatcher's Rest Cottage and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. Every need was anticipated and more than met. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodated our early arrival with suggestions for cafes for lunch and dinner. We had friends from Europe meet us there and they were very impressed with the cottages and gardens. The beaches were wonderful and we were looking at the calendar to see if we could extend our stay and go back to The Cottages - unfortunately, they were completely booked. If you want to experience the real Ireland, and want a relaxing, convenient location, we suggest that you stay at The Cottages.

Room Tip: Thatcher's Rest comfortably accommodated 6 people.

We had an amazing stay at "The Cottages". Thatcher's Rest cottage was beautiful, peaceful and cozy. I went with a group of 6. We all fit very comfortably in the cottage. The view from our cottage was amazing and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will be returning in the future!

This was our third visit to "The Cottages' and once again the experience was exemplary. Having previously stayed in Little Orchard and Thatcher"s Rest, this year we took up 'residency" in Rosé Cottage. As anticipated, everything was perfect and we received the usual warm welcome from Liz and her team. Liz is an extremely approachable, obliging and welcoming host and it is difficult to summarise exactly how outstanding the cottages and location are. However, as one of our party remarked on their first ever visit in 2011, "If heaven is like this, I will be happy!"
Hopefully, more visits to come!

I had a work trip to London and my wife and I wanted to combine that with our first trip to Ireland. We are delighted that we chose Liz and Roger's Cottages for our stay. They are immaculate and charming as described. For visitors from the US, or anywhere, who are interested in exploring Ireland while relaxing on a beautiful beach, this is a flat out amazing location. We essentially alternated days, exploring either Dublin or the incredible history of the Boyne Valley with just chilling at the beach cottages. The Boyne valley, from the Hills of Tara, Trim Castle, to the Battle of the Boyne and of course the highlight of it all, Bru Na Boinne at Newgrange more than lived up to its reputation for us and we learned a lot about the history of Ireland. While we had a rental car, it was much easier to follow Liz's suggestion and hop on the Matthews line coach service for our excursions into Dublin, which we did twice. Could not be easier. The coach line runs spot on time and drops you off near the spike in Dublin so you can do whatever you want from there and not have to drive. Trip takes 40 minutes or so.

The cottages are in, what for us desert rats from the states, is a remarkable natural setting, the Co. Meath beach from Laytown to Drogheda. It is wide (seriously wide, 200 m or so at low tide) and flat and nearly empty most of the time. A highlight was watching both the trotting horses with their carts and what appeared to be thorough bred horses train on the beach as we walked. We enjoyed a walk everyday to the rocks on the south bank of the Boyne River mouth, a round trip of 4 1/2 miles approximately, which was nothing short of a delightful sensory experience everyday, even with a little a drizzle, which we desert rats enjoyed.

We stayed for 6 nights, 3 nights in Rose Cottage and 3 in Little Orchard cottage. And a cottage is an apt description only in the charm of the thatched roof and the shape of the cottages. They are modern and comfortable to a high standard in every sense: beds, kitchen and yes, even the ubiquitous and reliable wifi, which I was not able to avoid using, but on the other hand, getting a little work done enabled us to be there. The gardens are beautiful and impressively green and varied. A delight to enjoy.

We truly enjoyed a side trip to Skerries for some Dublin Bay sweet prawns at Stoop Your head and the delicious meals available at the Relish, a short walk up the beach. Both were recommended by Liz.

Liz is warm, cheerful, friendly and very helpful. She delivered a personal greeting, birthday card and a cabbage rose in a vase to our door on my wife's birthday. Nice touch!

We can highly recommend the Sea Cottages to anyone looking to relax on the beach, explore the Boyne Valley or explore Dublin and the north of Ireland from a secluded base where you can forget it all if you want. Next trip? Now that we have explored the area, I will bring my golf clubs and get to know the golf courses, starting with Layton and Bettystown course a nice unspoilt walk up the beach. My wife is already planning to bring the whole family.

Room Tip: For a smaller party, Rose Cottage was perfect. Little Orchard has more room! We hope to stay in Th...

This was our fifth visit over the past ten years and the experience is better each time and it was perfect the first time ! We stayed in Little Orchard with our son, his wife and our 16 month old grandson who had an absolute ball in the gardens and in the play area but mainly on the beach which was his absolute favourite. Hard to find anything to criticise as our hosts were exemplary and did everything they possibly could to make sure our stay was as pleasant as it could have been. There are still two cottages we haven't stayed in and they are on our to do list hopefully in the not too distant future. If visiting the Dublin area for any reason (leisure/golf/business etc) we would give the strongest recommendation we possibly could to using The Cottages as your base. Our photo shows the bbq area which we used on two occasions.

Room Tip: All good and all of the same high standard.
