We have been to Turunc many times but this was our first in the past 10 years. We were pleased to see little has changed. Same lovely people, same beach even old familiar faces. The rise in "all inclusive" hotels has had a negative impact on the town as they do little to improve the economy. Ten years ago there was only one, now wrist bands are everywhere and the bars and restaurants are suffering. There are still more than you can visit in two weeks and all are wonderful. Tax has increased the price of alcohol to about the same price as UK but this is no bad thing.
We went with Thomas Cook and the transfer to and from Turunc was awful. In the past small coaches were used to transfer directly to Turunc. Now they use huge coaches to Marmaris and a Taxi or mini coach to Turunc. This adds at least 90 mins to the transfer not including the "comfort break for the reps" and thats if the bus/Taxi is waiting, it was not. All those regular visitors use J & M and arrange private transfers. TC loose out but so do its customers. Dalaman on the way out is horrendous. Very hot and two security checks and if you are on a full big coach very very slow and frustrating. We will return but not with Thomas Cook unless they sort out the transfer. Four and a half hour transfers are no joke.
I feel sorry for the reps as most people have been before and know J &M are better and less expensive.
Great place but the tour operator should be ashamed at putting customers to such an ordeal.

To Hussein and Anyur at Rose Apartments .....thank you !! They were both there to welcome us ,even though we arrived at nearly 1 am....and there to bid us farewell a week later, with a parting hug . Our rooms were spotlessly clean, a provision was in hand for my bro-in-law to be on ground floor to use his oxygen, and for sis-in-law's limited mobility.Lovely view for us , of the mountainside, watching the goats treachorously climbing the mountain, watching what little traffic there was passing by, and admiring all the pomegranate trees, as we were on second floor. The cleaning ladies always smiling, every day at least an hour on each room ,towels and bed linen changed every day. If you book privately you have the room right until your departure...If booked with Thomas Cook, and need a room after midday, it costs an extra (30 lira=£10).But definitely sunbed savers abound here!! The "regulars" go out and expect their sunbed to be empty on their return.....Naughty-naughty !! But overall we love Turunc and its people ,always welcoming, with no hassle like Marmaris and Icmeler....Saving for next year !!

Room Tip: Prices are dependent on whether you book with Thomas Cook or privately .. If private the aircon a...

Had a glorious time at the Rose. The apartment was spacious and clean, and had the usual basic, but adequate kitchen equipment, shower was not the typical wet room shower, it was an enclosed cubicle. Bedroom had a big enough wardrobe. Air conditioning was £60 for a fortnight, and safety deposit box £10, (payable in Sterling or Lira) and it was in the bedroom wardrobe.
2 lovely ladies came in to clean everyday, sheets and towels changed every third day. Our balcony faced the beautiful views of the mountains, and watching the goats walking on the mountains late afternoon was a delight. We were on a road, front and back, but with half a dozen cars and mopeds going past a day, it was not a problem.
We did have problems getting a sunbed, people were putting their towels on the beds at 2 in the morning! and one day, me, husband and son shared 1 sunbed for the day, whilst someone had put their towels on 2 sunbeds, went out for the day came back at 5pm removed their towels and went to their room, stupid and selfish, I hope they are reading this. I think these holiday hotels and apartments should implement a system of the manager removing the towels.
Moan over and back to the holiday, the bar area was small, but adequate, and breakfast and snacks were served during the day. Very reasonable priced, Turkish or Full English breakfasts available, scrambled eggs etc., pancakes, burgers omelettes. It was quiet and peaceful around the pool and bar, no loud music blaring. The pool and surrounding areas were always clean and tidy.
The owners and their son, were so friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble, they went out of their way to help people, many guests return year after year.
The shops and beach were a few minutes walk away, excellent restaurants along the seafront, with a variety of price ranges, some typical kebab takeaways along the street, and stop for the honey balls at the stall of an evening, out of this world. If you walk back towards the old part of the village there are some good restaurants at slightly cheaper prices.
The beach was not particularly nice, and very stony, but the water was clear, and very warm.
Trips can be booked from a variety of places along the main street, or bus or water taxi can take you into Marmaris or Icelmar.
Turkish bath & massage available 5 minutes walk from the apartments.
Would definitely recommend the Rose if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Lovely apartments in a nice quiet area. Rooms were really clean and the owners are very friendly. The pool was very clean but we had problems getting sunbeds many days however early we got up which was a shame. Having read other reviews and speaking to others it appears that we were unlucky and this is not normally a problem. The lovely beach is only a few minutes walk away and it was easy to get beds there. Turunc itself has everything, brilliant restaurants, friendly shopkeepers and is very cheap to eat out. We'd love to go back to the Rose next year but it appears to be booked up already which tells you how popular it is.

A big thank you to June and Murat of J M Travel, Turunc.
My son had broken his collar bone and we arrived at Marmaris hospital with minimal money and identity.
I telephoned Murat with our circumstances. He arranged for Hussein from the Rose Apart to retrieve our insurance documents and deliver them to him.
(This took a few attempts, due to the stress I was feeling, I was giving them the wrong whereabouts of the docs).
Murat was finally able to fax the necessary information through to the hospital.
My next problem was I had no money to pay the excess charge and get ourselves back to Turunc.
Murat arranged for a member of his team to deliver enough Lira to me. This enabled us to leave the hospital and get back to Turunc, comfortably and safely.
I'm a single parent traveller and this is why for the last 8 years I only holiday at the Rose and rely on my transfers, excursions, money exchange and sound support from Murat, June, Anyur and Hussein.
I've already booked for next year.
Thanks again,
Lesley and Josh.
