“Missing Rose already”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

As other people have mentioned the Thomas Cook transfer was ridiculously long. 3.5 hours with a comfort break an hour after leaving the airport. Our return trip was direct on minibus with pickups in Marmaris and was only 2 hours but I would consider organising my own transfer by taxi in future approx 75 mins and £50 each way. That aside from the moment we arrived and Hussein introduced himself it was perfect. The first room allocated to us had a double bed due to lack of info from Thomas Cook but he immediately swapped us to Room A101 on the ground floor with twin beds and while it may not have had the view it was a lovely cool room. We only used air con for a couple of hours in the evening to cool the bedroom before sleeping in July. The beds were very comfortable (firm mattress), and the shower was well fitted and it was lovely having a proper cubicle as opposed to the open wet room I have had in Greece. There was always plenty of hot water and the cleaners were in every day and did a very good job. The kitchen area only had a 2 ring hob and a kettle but we don't cook on holiday so I can not say how easy it was to cater for yourselves or not. On our second night we sat with Hussein and his wife while having a drink before bed and it was fascinating to find out he belongs to one of Turunc's original 4 families and how many of his family live and work in the resort. The apartment and grounds were well kept and they always had a friendly smile and greeting for you when going out or coming back in (we prefer beach to pool). I was very impressed by the Rose and Turunc itself and would have loved to have stayed longer and hope to get back in the future.

Room Tip: Room A101 is very cool

Stayed at Rose apartments 27th June to 6th July..arrived 9.30th..to find Thomas Cook hadn't sent our booking so we wasn't expected but the owners called in the cleaners that made our room ready in half hour and was spotlessly clean...air con cost £50 for 10 nights you couldn't live without it although it's only in the bedroom so anyone sleeping on the sofa beds the heat was unbeatable....I love Turunc and have stayed at a few different hotels but found the Rose The best..The owners are a wonderful couple couple very friendly and always their to help you...met some lovely people
Especially the lovely Alison and Gavin (the Bondiz)..Kim and Ian...very nice quiet chill out..loved it!!! Will be booking again but through J&M TRAVEL nxt time xxx

We were made very welcome at the Rose Apartments on our 2 week holiday. Our apartment was in the roof and exceedingly clean and well set out. The flyscreens were handy although we used the air conditioning at night. The pool is excellent and food lovely. We will stay again . Our thanks to Hussein and his wife.

I will start this review with a quick appraisal of the Rosy Apartments in Marmaris. I do this because this is where our transfer coach from the airport dropped us off. The road to the Rosy apartments was too narrow for the minibus to go down, so we couldn't see where we were, Once we walked down the road to the apartments we realised the mistake but the bus had gone. The receptionist at the Rosy was excellent and contacted Diana travel for us and arranged for a taxi to take us to our correct destination. The Thomas Cook rep that turned up at the Rosy was no help. In the 45 minutes we spent there we could tell the place was very clean and popular with a lively buzz. When we got to the Rose (at 11.30, previous reviewer is correct, transfers via TC are awful) we were asked what sort of apartment we wanted, top floor etc. We plumped for a top floor apartment overlooking the pool. The room was very clean with a fair sized kitchen and living area. There were 2 decent sized sofas. The TV picked up a handful of English news stations and 2 Turkish channels that showed American programs with Turkish subtitles. The kitchen was basic as with most SC places in Turkey, with a 2 ring electric hob and fridge. There was a useful amount of matching crockery and cutlery. I wish they had provided a toaster though. The bed was comfy, but oddly only 1 bedside table. The aircon was lovely and essential. The cost of the aircon and the safe was £60 for the 10 nights. The shower room was small and the shower doesn't stand close inspection as untidily installed. The pool was well maintained and in June/July no problems getting a bed, although some were down by the pool at 7.30 and towels were being put on the beds and the owners nowhere to be seen. The pool is all 1m55 to 1m60 deep so not suitable for little kids or non swimmers. The pool snacks were very basic and quite dear. Although a big bowl of chips and a beer were a top treat. I did not notice any favouritism displayed even though there were repeat visitors there. The apartments were thoroughly cleaned daily. The complex itself is in a handy position, well placed for the shops and restaurants. We went to Mermaid Pide, Sahin, Musti, Isbo, Serifs Kitchen and Pashas. I have written reviews on these. Visit Sok supermarket for the rudest most ignorant staff you will ever meet. Turunc is a lovely little place but getting to it is a pain. You don't get hassled by traders like you do in some other Turkish resorts.
Flying round pool area are huge hornets. Don't panic as they are placid and like to drink water from the edge of the pool. They will only become agitated if you flap your arms etc. No mosquitos which is another bonus. Only come here if you want a quiet holiday as the general mood is tranquil and calm. Peace was shattered briefly by a family who arrived shouting, swearing and bombing and diving in to the pool with a shrieking little kid, half of them weren't even staying there. They didn't come back and those that remained were much quieter after a telling off.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool

It was so lovely to be able to return to Rose Apartments & catch up with old friends who also choose to stay here. We certainly feel part of the family after this, our 6th stay at the Rose. Everything was perfect - even the weather. Always slightly dodgy in May. Cannot wait to return.

Stayed for 1 week wished it was more, can't recommend highly enough, just like many other reviews, also like to mention how good J and M travel was as well.

Such a warm welcome an so clean I was amazing

The best of locations ideal for all restaurants and bars but far enough to be so peacefull, 3 minutes to the beach.

I will be turning

We have been to Turunc many times but this was our first in the past 10 years. We were pleased to see little has changed. Same lovely people, same beach even old familiar faces. The rise in "all inclusive" hotels has had a negative impact on the town as they do little to improve the economy. Ten years ago there was only one, now wrist bands are everywhere and the bars and restaurants are suffering. There are still more than you can visit in two weeks and all are wonderful. Tax has increased the price of alcohol to about the same price as UK but this is no bad thing.
We went with Thomas Cook and the transfer to and from Turunc was awful. In the past small coaches were used to transfer directly to Turunc. Now they use huge coaches to Marmaris and a Taxi or mini coach to Turunc. This adds at least 90 mins to the transfer not including the "comfort break for the reps" and thats if the bus/Taxi is waiting, it was not. All those regular visitors use J & M and arrange private transfers. TC loose out but so do its customers. Dalaman on the way out is horrendous. Very hot and two security checks and if you are on a full big coach very very slow and frustrating. We will return but not with Thomas Cook unless they sort out the transfer. Four and a half hour transfers are no joke.
I feel sorry for the reps as most people have been before and know J &M are better and less expensive.
Great place but the tour operator should be ashamed at putting customers to such an ordeal.

Room Tip: They are all good
