“Thank you for a wonderful holiday”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

My boyfriend and I had an unforgettable holiday whilst staying at this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and the service was brilliant! We booked a double room, but when we arrived late at night we were shown to a 3 bed apartment with two bedrooms, kitchen/living room and balcony with an amazing view of Turunc bay. We were left a lovely supper in the fridge, despite the fact we were only there for B&B! The rooms are very clean, well equipped and air conditioned.

The breakfasts at the hotel are of a really high standard, with a wide variety of fresh local produce. We also ate at the a la carte restaurent which served delicious food at amazing value for money (we had a starter and a main each with a large bottle of water for under £10!)

We also took advantage of the boat trip which was a lovely experience, the staff were relaxed and the food was much better than the other boat trips which you can book at the harbor in Turunc. Drinks were also free so there were no hidden costs; a big plus (most trips charge extra). There is also free rock climbing near reception every day and a variety of other classes and experiences to take advantage of.

Turunc was the perfect town for us, it's fairly small but has everything you need. We also visited Ichmeler but thought it was too touristy for our tastes. The hotel runs an hourly shuttle service to and from Turunc but most of the time we just walked because the surrounding area was so beautiful (it takes about 20 minutes).

We normally make it a rule to visit a different place every year, but this is one of the rare places I would actually want to go back to again and again. Completely recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Just back from a week away in the beautiful area of Turunc, the village of Turunc itself is nice although the Loryma 'Viverdi' hotel really was special! You wouldn’t even need to leave the premises. With stylishly appointed apartments dotted around beautiful gardens maintained with acute precision where fig and olive trees grow offering shade if need be. Also the view is something to behold!!!! I was after a relaxing but active/healthy holiday in luxurious surroundings with my family and this place delivered!

I really enjoyed their ethos and vibe regarding using locally sourced produce and being ‘green’ - fruit/veg/oil/cheese from their very own gardens and farms. There are a couple of attractive pools, small gym area and free yoga classes throughout the week. So instead of the usual over-indulging on holiday I've come back fit and healthy.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and made sure we had a great time without hassling us, gave us an imformative tour with what the place has to offer.

The other amazing plus-point about this hotel is there are no cheesy night-time entertainers or anything like that; there is a stylish bar which opens late where you can gaze up at the stars in a hammock and chill-out.
I decided to go on a couple of really nice walks - one which starts right beside the hotel past the tennis courts following the red dots on the stones, which takes you all the way to Icmeler in a couple of hours, although it's tough going and would recommend it if you are an experienced
walker ‘not for the infirm’ and take plenty of water, got the taxi boat back to Turunc.

I would also recommend getting the taxi boat to Amos bay as the beach and restaurant is more secluded and much more peaceful than the beach at Turunc. The water is crystal clear and the food in the restaurant is top notch and you they don’t hassle you.

We also went on a really nice bay boat trip, we were after the peace again and opted to go for a boat that was small where the max amount of people on board was 12 although we were lucky a few folk cancelled and there were only 9 of us. The boat was called "Cem2" and the English speaking lady who runs it with her Turkish husband "Captain Hüseyin" were lovely and provided a delicious lunch on board. For 4 of us to go it was only £100, bargain!
Can't wait to go back to the Loryma 'Viverdi'.
Visited with my parents and sister early June. 26 from Glasgow, Scotland

What a wonderful place!
I think I never felt more comfortable in a vacation ressort before.
The crew is very friendly, the food is just excellent, rooms, pool and ressort are clean. This also goes for the plates - which isn't often the case.
The ressort is managed very well and the Viverde concept is compelling to me: organic food from local suppliers, if not from own farming. Work with the locals, hire them for the entire year, although the ressort is only open for 6 month.
The place is as eco friendly as a vacation ressort possibly can be. I find that contemporary.
Instead of the sometimes anoying animation program that we faced in other places, Loryma offers daily outdoor activities and morning Yoga 3 days a week. Kids are well taken care by a professional nanny. Don't miss the wonderful massage treatment!
Yes, there is a chance of power drop outs, and yes, some light switch here or a light there is out of order. But who cares! Light the candle that is stored in the fridge and have a glass of the good local wine.
Turunc beach is OK, but the Taxi Boat or Minibus just takes 15 minutes to Amos Beach, wich I prefer.
One of my highlights was going to the barber down in Turunc. Made me feel like a Sultan. ;)
We are already considering to book again.

Room Tip: The ressort is large and the slope is steep. The higher numbers have a wonderful view over the bay...

We broke our personal rule to always go to new places each year after our 1st stay two years ago as we had such a great experience. Going back the second year felt like coming home. We'd be going again this year but our new house needs the time and money spent on it more than us! Very jealous of everyone there this summer.

Yes there are a lot of Germans staying there - I didn't meet one who wasn't friendly and spoke excellent English. Yes not all the staff speak perfect English - it's Turkey not Blackpool. A little effort to speak a little Turkish goes a long way. Any problems we had were all promptly dealt with - things break and the people who break them don't always tell hotels before they check out. The cleaning ladies do a fantastic job - ours was almost in tears when I gave her a tip when we left. No complaints about the staff at all.

The apartments do not have washing machines etc apart from the one or two privately owned ones. Agreed - aircon in all bedrooms would be better.

The main supermarket in town, while limited and variable in its stock, was more than adequate for holiday meals. Go to the Monday market for fresh fruit & veg. The hotel a la carte restaurant (downstairs from the outdoor pool) was open last year and was better value than going into town - certainly cheaper than the main buffet restaurant. The German guests all seem to be on half/full board and buying so many days breakfasts/evening meals wasn't such good value for us Brits.

The Oxygen bar was a little pricey we felt but you have hammocks, bean bags and starry skies. Get to know Frankie and he will look after you (the free raki was a nice touch). We generally had dustchasers & nibbles on the room balcony before going out for a meal or drink in the village.

We booked trips directly with the boats at the harbour. No need to go through the hotel or travel agents and you'll be able to negotiate a discount for a family. I can recommend the dive boat day out, the trip to see the turtles & mud baths, the 5 bays BBQ and the short trip to Kumlubuk bay (it's worth having a meal as it gives you a raised cabana for the day). Although it's a long day, apparently Ephesus is a bucket list item so will have to go again sometime and include that.

There's such a laid back vibe to the place. Relax, enjoy your holiday.

Room Tip: We prefer not to be on the gound level for privacy but the design is very good and you never feel an...

We have been here 3 days so far and booked on the strength of the other excellent reviews. So far, I have been pretty disappointed. The views are fabulous and the rooms are clean, but there are more disadvantages than anything else. None of the electrical good work - we booked a superior room, but the jacuzzi, air conditioning, kettle, extractor fan don't work and there is no DVD player. No dishwasher and no washing machine like someone else mentioned. Oh, and there was supposed to be air-con throughout, which there isn't. There is 1 unit for a 2bed apartment. They are quick to send someone to fix the defective electrical goods but it's slightly annoying especially when you are knee deep in bath water. The room is ridiculously small, as is the balcony. Really really small. Everytime you open a cupboard the handle falls off. The pool area is too small and there is a severe lack of sunbeds. The sunbeds that are there are dilapidated and not something that The Brits would recognise with a 4* hotel. No cushions/ mats and paint pealing off. I tried not to be horrified but did feel a bit sorry for myself. We went to dinner on the 2nd night at the restaurant, as there was an advertised 25% off, we waited and waited to be seated, but we weren't acknowledged so we sat down. After waiting some more, and still not being acknowledged we decided to go to the buffet and get some food. We had starters then went back for main course. We finished both, and still no waiter came to take a drinks order - we went to find someone at that point. Drinks were dumped at the table with no apology. We were surrounded by plates and wasps, which no one attempted to clear. We had to find someone to pay, at which point it transpires the advertised price already had 25% off, so the flyer was misleading. We paid double the price we would have in Turunc for a meal that was spoilt - I complained about the service and was given a shrug. We haven't found the staff friendly. We haven't had a smile yet... Summed up, definitely not 4*. Just average.

My wife and I booked a 2 week holiday at Loryma Resort due to the reviews on TripAdvisor.

So here's a few useful pointers to help you make up your mind before you travel.

Advantages:

Stunning views.
Lots of space to relax.
Nice pool area.
Apartments are spacious and spotlless.
Balconies all have more great views.
Free shuttle bus (0930-1745hrs). Then a Dolmus can be used up until 2230hrs at a cost of just 5tl return to town.

Disadvantages:

Self catering accommodation is very poorly equipped.
Be prepared for staff to speak limited English but great German.
Shop on site has no provisions for self catering.
Pool was freezing.
Only buffet food was available at a cost of double the price in town.
Food was average at best however, the pool bar snacks were awful.
Restaurant was closed for the full 2 weeks of our stay.
Oxygen bar was only open 3 evenings.

Hope you find this honest review useful.
