“Thank Goodness!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

My last review about this pub wasn't a good one, but I just had to write another one as "Thank Goodness" this pub has changed hands. My husband popped in for a quick pint and that's where he found out that there is a new owner, so we deceided to have Sunday lunch.
Well all I can say is Compliments to the Chef. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken stuffed with Stilton and leeks...Amazing! The new bar staff were excellent, very friendly.
All in all, this pub was a joy to come to. Look forward to our next visit!

“Really great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

Lovely inn to visit after a walk over the Downs. Friendly landlord, nice staff, food was great. Had to wait a while as they were busy, but worth waiting for. Been often before - new management now - will be going back soon. Love to Stewart the Squirrel!

“Fab country pub!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

Fantastic, great value food, 2 courses for £10 during the week. Great wines and a very good choice of beer. Very friendly staff, lovely sunny garden and a bright welcoming interior. The new owner's doing a great job and has made a real transformation. One of the best pubs in the area. Well worth a visit.

“Excellent mid-way lunch stop when out walking.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

We have been attempting to walk over the South Downs for lunch at the Eight Bells for several weeks now but have had to postpone due to bad weather. Made it today and were not disappointed. Excellent meals enjoyed by all four of us, everything was extremely tasty and plentiful and service charming and efficient. Thank you.
