“Suited our purposes well”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Judging from the information posted in the hotel lifts, the Navarat is currently undergoing a major renovation of its rooms, clearly with an aim to reaching 4-star status. We stayed there for one night en route by car from northern Thailand to our home in Nonthaburi. For the purpose of an overnight stay it was a good choice. The local market is just 5-minutes' walk away and we ate there. My Thai wife didn't find her dish of frog very appetising and had a stomach ache, but that's beside the point. The hotel was very comfortable and the room cost was quite reasonable. The staff were generally friendly. Breakfast was OK. Parking in the hotel's courtyard was convenient and secure.

First time visit to this small hotel in Kampheang Phet. Stayed at other properties there before and happily found this renovated place. Nice big rooms with good size bathrooms. Very new and clean, friendly staff and ok breakfast. Very good for my Thai Wife which comes from this area. The Hotel now has Suites available which are spacious and nicely decorated. Not overdone, just cool and calm feeling. Will go back next week for a one night stay.

Apparently this hotel is newly refurbished and the pictures on-line showed newly refurbished rooms. The exterior and reception area has been updated. However we were led down the institutional corridor to our "superior room" on the 5th floor and I felt like I was on the set of "Life on Mars" (that cop show about the guy who goes back in time to be stuck in the 1970s), complete with worn avocado bathroom and "groovy" 70's print curtains and padded vinyl bedhead. There had been a token effort to put some newer chairs in and a couple of cushions on the bed but that didn't douse the 70's vibe. Thes best thing about it was the view of the river outside. The bed was rock hard and the room stiflingly hot until the Aircon very slowly cooled it down. The room did have a TV, fridge, hairdryer, wardrobe and small table and chairs.

The staff were generally very pleasant but spoke from little to no english , so it was difficult to communicate. We wanted late checkout but the receptionist wouldn't entertain the idea (maybe she didn't understand). There was however one man at breakfast who spoke fluent english and explained that they couldn't offer a buffet breakfast (disappointing) as they didn't have enough guests or the necessary equipment. Initially we were just given a choice of American breakfast or rice soup, but he did offer to bring out more food if required. You could get you own tea and coffee and make some toast yourself though.
The hotel also advertised that they had bikes to hire but they only seem to have 2 and they are really very small (more suitable for a child) so we could not use these to cycle around. Also they charge B150 for 6 hour hire (this is very expensive). They do however have a pick-up that can take you around town for B70 per journey per person. This is a good option as transport in town is limited. We got to the historical park this way.
The hotel is in a convenient location close to the night market and easy to find. But there is better value elsewhere. Perhaps when (if) the rooms are completed it may be worth another look.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask to see the room first to ensure it has been refurbished.

We stayed at the Navarat Hotel for 4 nights in January and really enjoyed being in this comfortable an unpretentious place.
Our room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom. Hot shower with good pressure, comfortable bed... efficient air conditioner, what else the traveler might wish for? It was all there, and the staff was very attentive and helpful. There was no problem in communicating in English. In my opinion the reception staff understands a lot, but they are a bit shy to speak (hence the impression of limited English).
Breakfast was very good. We also had dinners or lunches at the restaurant –the food was excellent, and serves were very generous.
The free wi-fi was available in the very comfortable lobby.
As we were not keen on riding the bicycles, we were offered the car transportation to and from the hotel to Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. For 280 THB, which we thought was a reasonable price, Mr Maruay Butsri the housekeeping manager drove us there and after a few hours of wandering through those beautiful ruins we called him to pick us up. We enjoyed his company and our conversations about everyday life in Kamphaeng Phet.

We stayed at this hotel during our 9-days bicycling trip from Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai. Compared with the accommodation we had prior, this hotel was luxury; all right not 5-star and already a bit old, but quite comfortable. Personnel was friendly and helpful. They took good care of our bicycles. The rooms have air-conditioning, satellite television, hot shower, a stocked refrigerator and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has a large restaurant and a private parking. A negative point regarding our rooms: the air-conditioning outlet was next to the toilet and made the bathroom slippery. In general a good an easy accommodation close to the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park and the Ping River.

First of all, let me recommend you this small town, where you'll be able to see Thailand's daily life with almost no tourism. You can have a rest from your trip for a day or two, just between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
The hotel is easy to find: there are very few tall buildings there, and this one have green neon lights. You can come back there with no map.
The building is not very old; even though, it's been recently refurbished with a very good taste, good materials and equipment, and it looks great. Besides, the rooms are huge!
There's an splendid breakfast: abundant, good food, well cooked. They call it 'continental', but it goes beyond that: egg, little sausages, fresh fruit.
The staff: they hardly speak a little English, but they are really charming and willing to help.
You can rent a bike in the hotel.

Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting the local historical park. Staff speak very limited english
Further away from town centre than expected but very close to night market.
Room clean & comfortable. Breakfast not great - very limited choice.
Transport can be a problem - managed to hire a motorbike from Three J Guesthouse altho they weren't keen to hire out to non guests.
Historical Park really good as very few tourists but interesting sites.
