A truly superb hotel. Staff are friendly, welcoming and so helpful.
Everywhere is spotlessly clean.
We paid extra for a junior suite, as did our friends. We had rooms 305 and 306. Both were very large with a separate lounge area. Fantastic view down the valley and mountains. Later in the year, it would be terrific sitting out on the sunny balcony.
There is an extensive buffet breakfast, and a wonderful 4 or 5 course evening meal. Non meat eaters and vegetarians are well catered for. Wine list is large and sensibly priced with many local wines.
The train station is close, but the trains are electric and didn't disturb us.
We intend to return in the summer for hiking.

Room Tip: 305 and 306 are large with excellent views (junior suites)

This family run hotel is a master class in customer service, nothing is too much trouble and the staff are excellent. We arrived late due to flight problems (we ended up having to take a train from Munich) but we were not rushed in spite of arriving at the end of dinner service. We were also collected from the station - even though it was a 2 minute walk.
We were halfboard and the food was very good in terms of both quality and quantity although you really do need to be skiing, snowshoeing or walking strenuously if you want to work your way through all the courses at dinner, and take full advantage of the extensive breakfast buffet.
The hotel has a pleasant spa and we enjoyed some excellent sports massages.
Although the Sud Tyrol is technically in Italy, the hotel and the village tend towards their Austrian heritage particularly the food (lots of meat, hearty desserts).
We upgraded to a junior suite which was well worth the money with a lovely view south towards the mountains. The only slight negative is that the railway runs alongside the hotel and there is some noise if the window is open.

Room Tip: Treat yourselves to a junior suite

We stayed here during a self-arranged walking holiday over the summer. What a fantastic all round experience - staff, room, food, location - everything. Our holiday was delayed due to illness but the Fuchs family did everything to accommodate us. The breakfast buffet, packed lunch for the hikes and the evening meal were all fantastic. And what a location....only writing this review now as I am hankering to go back! What a lovely valley and mountains for cycling and hiking. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed here the day before we left on the Alta Via 1 trek through the Dolomites. What a pleasure. The staff were very helpful. They have a cocktail social in the evening with a wonderful dinner if you choose, afterward. The breakfast is a full buffet. Wonderful corner room with huge patio overlooking a beautiful garden. Complimentary spa and pool. It is only a couple of blocks away from the bus station.

Great hotel and even better staff.

Good food. Some really nice personal touches, like staying at the same table throughout stay, and the morning joke!

Well worth staying at if you are in the area.

Thank you to the team or making our stay really nice.

We stayed 5 nights in July 2013 as part of a two-centre self-arranged walking holiday in the Sud Tirol.

We had a superb time. Be it our premium room, facing south with a balcony; the advice given in the hotel for our walks; the spa downstairs with a lovely pool and saunas; or the fantastic food, it was end-to-end brilliant.

The Fuchs family and their staff work so hard to deliver a wonderful experience for their clients.

We had booked Bed and Breakfast but followed reviews and took the evening meals every night, which were HUGE and interesting, including the local wines. Breakfasts were again a massive choice, all served in lovely surroundings.

The hotel is directly across from the railway station, so don't feel bad about the thought of arriving on the local Sud Tirol Bahn, which is a lovely modern system (if you catch the Pustertal Bahn trains rather than Trenitalia). It's but a 10 minute stroll to the old centre of Dobbiaco/Tolbach, past other nice hotels, restaurants and the GELATO shop... In the centre is the bus station from which buses go to all of the important local locations every hour at critical times (eg to the Drei Zinnen). Three of them go to quite high locations from whence one can walk high or level, or down, without the great climbs.

It's a beautiful location and we cannot recommend either Dobbiaco/Toblach or this hotel enough.

Our ONLY problem was that our IPAD wi-fi connection failed after a day, but who REALLY needs to be connected? And there's a PC for general use in Reception. So - no problem!!

Thank you so much for our stay. One of the best.

Room Tip: It's worth paying the small extra amount for a premium room. Ours was little extra and lovely.

The staff at this hotel are super. They are really helpful and friendly. I am on a gluten free diet and the staff couldn't have been more helpful to me. I was able to choose my food in the morning from the main menu and they were then able to make gluten free versions by the evening. All the staff that served me were well informed about my special diet and were able to advise me about what foods I was able to eat from the buffet. I had my own special basket of bread provided at each meal containing 3 different types of bread. This is definitely gluten free heaven! Meals have lots of courses and the food is delicious.
Everyone else is equally well catered for. Children have their own special serviettes and seats put ready where they like to sit.
Nothing is too much trouble - the personal touches make you feel really spoilt.

The swimming pool was lovely too.
