When we arrived (booked through Booking.com as part of a complex 2-weeks of travelling around NE Italy) - I had an incling that something wasn't right. It was only weeks later that realised we had gone to the wrong Hotel Tre Cime - near Dobbiaco, West, rather than Sexten (which is just North of the mountain range in the Dolomites which we were walking).
So, the ladies did their best to accomodate us, they do not speak english, so there was seemngly confusion (we were still unaware we were not at the right hotel). We stayed, and were fed a 4 course meal as well, which included pork although we were told it was beef. (a translation problem of someone attempting English but without actually knowing what they are saying!!)
There were not many staying - it's end of the season - the bread was hard and breakfast fruit had flies around it. There were no 'spa' facilities (which we realised afterwards was because we were [really] at the wrong hotel.
Nice room, lovely cotton sheets, very clean - and we were offered a room with balcony at the front, fantastic view of the Tre Cime mountains. It's the perfect spot to start the Tre Cime walk in the Dolomites (walk up to the Rifugio Tre Cime - half a day's walking uphill). But, Hotel Tre Cime Sexten it is NOT! Be warned!! The hotel is at the side of the main road, with nothing but hills around it.
Nice family run place with a feel of having been used as such for 40 years, very clean. Thanks for the stay - it's not the hotel's fault that we went to the wrong one. If English/our Italian was better we could have perhaps worked out what had gone wrong and gone to the right hotel.
