This was one of only a few places in Toblach / Dobbiaco that bothered to answer my e-mail! Many more failed to reply.
The hotel is close to the railway station and level crossing - although there are few trains - and has an imposing and elegant exterior with geraniums bursting from its many balconies.
Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a nice wooden floor, TV, balcony and separate shower and toilet. The only problem was a power cut in the room caused by my girlfriend's hairdryer.
Hans, the owner, was very helpful and replaced the fuse immediately. He advises that you stick to using the low power hairdryer provided in the bathroom.
The hotel's bar and breakfast area suffers from worn and dated decor, but the breakfast buffet was very good.
All in all, our one-night stay at 30 Euros per person including breakfast seemed good value and we would probably stay there again.
Toblach / Dobbiaco, a German speaking town in Italian South Tirol, is a good base from which to explore the famous Drei Zinnen / Tre Cime mountain range.
Our recommendation for evening dining would be Pizzeria Hans.
