We travelled from Melbourne Australia to Ireland to spend Christmas with family. We had our 2 teenage sons with us also. We rented this gorgeous property for 5 weeks... This was the perfect home away from home! The home itself is beautifully positioned with views from the living area upstairs and the master bedroom overlooking Carlingford Lough.. You could sit and stare at the views forever, they're particularly beautiful when the Lough is still and the reflections are phenomenal! The kitchen is well appointed and stocked with all cooking utensils require to whip up a feast! The heating kept us warm and cosy throughout the winter weeks we spent there... We were greeted by Helena when we arrived who had the house beautiful and warm and inviting, and Dermot was more than accommodating with anything we required of him during our stay!

I couldn't recommend this property highly enough. If you want somewhere you can unpack your clothes and groceries and live in comfortably this is the place for you! It was central to all our family in nearby Newry and surrounding areas. It's 5 minutes from Carlingford which, as an Aussie, is what I had envisioned as a traditional Irish town.. it's just breathtaking and a must visit for anyone staying so close.

This property was perfectly central for us but also far enough out to enjoy our "downtime days" laying on the lounge reading a novel and taking in the views....

Do yourselves a favor and book this property, you won't be sorry... 5 stars isn't enough ☺️

“You won't be dissappointed”
Reviewed 11 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This is the second time we have stayed in this house and as with the first time we had a lovely relaxing time. The view from the front of the house overlooks Warrenpoint and simply beautiful both day and night. The owner is so welcoming and easy to communicate with and I hope next year to return. Although there is much on your doorstep apart from the beautiful view and is a good base with Newry and Dundalk a short distance away by car. The house itself is very spacious and has everything you need provided with a closed in big back garden. Everything was spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard.

We have just come back from a long weekend in omeath. With 6 kids and 4 adults it was a very suitable house for all
Of Us with plenty of room.
The kids had a ball playing in the grass at the front of house and running down to the small swings and monkey bars at the bottom of the hill. The village of omeath is a lovely small friendly place and again the kids were happy with a walk down to the playground and playing with the shells on the beach and watching the boats.
We took a day trip to down and downpatrick steam railway. It was an enjoyable hours drive with lovely views along the way. The steam train was a big hit and I would highly recommend it. With great shopping in Newry and so many great amenities close by I will certainly be back to this lovely comfortable house. The views over the Lough are breathtaking. The house itself is clean, well maintained and very well equipped with everything we could have needed.

“Excellent family/group size holiday house & great base for exploring the region”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is a lovely holiday home, plenty of room for a family or group. Good sized kitchen, dining table, comfy living room & good big bedrooms. Absolutely beautiful view out over carlingford lough from the living room windows. The local area is great, plenty of places to explore in easy reach, Carlingford is lovely with loads of places to eat/drink only about 10 mins drive down the road. Very suitable for families with young children - its a quiet cul de sac, there's a baby gate for the stairs if needed & the neighbours kids were very friendly inviting my two out to play in no time! There are a few steps down to the front door, but parking is directly at the top of these - we managed fine with 3 & 6 year old. Great place to stay, would highly reccomend.

“Home from home”
Reviewed 1 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Perfect holiday home, the views are so magnificent we barely looked at the television, it is a great size and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could need. The journey from family we had came to visit was so quick and easy due to the garage at the bottom of the hill. The owner was lovely and very accommodating due to movements in our trip and looked after us well, thank you, we will definitely be returning and look forward to it.

“Great Rental”
Reviewed 2 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Cul Na Rath is as advertised. Spacious and roomy; well appointed with wonderful views towards the Mourne Mountains. Dermott is a welcoming and attentive host.

WI-FI is available via Dermott who will arrange on arrival. We were extremely impressed by this lovely home on our first visit to Ireland and we intend to return.

Omeath itself is quiet but it is only a few minutes drive to Carlingford where there is a great selection of pubs and restaurants. Carlingford is bustling, particularly at the weekend.

Omeath is ideally situated for trips both north to Belfast and south to Dublin. We took the train from Newry which has extensive and secure parking at the railway station.
