This is a small hotel with just 15 rooms, it is at the top of a steep winding hill which we would suggest you do not rush on a hot day! Landing at Kavala we travel by coach to the ferry port for the crossing to Thassos the crossing takes about 40mins, then back to the coach for the final trip to Golden Beach. Due to the width of the road, steepness of the hill and lack of turning space the final part of the transfer is by taxi.

We stayed on the ground floor in room 102, for two weeks, some may prefer to be higher as you do hear those above you, having said that it was nice to be able to speak with the other guests as and when they returned from the beach or a day out, we would say in this room again.
All rooms have a sea view and a balcony, the view of Golden Beach and Skala Panamia from the balconies and gardens of the hotel can only be described as stunning!

This is a very quiet hotel, rooms are fairly spacious and are cleaned and made up daily except on Saturdays due to most change overs being Sunday.
The breakfast is adequate as dictated by Thomson Holidays not the owners of the hotel, sadly Thomson Holidays have the monopoly in Thassos and some hotels are pulling out due to the low prices paid to them by Thomson!

This was our only gripe as the hotel get paid a flat rate throughout the season so why do Thomson's prices change on a daily basis? We booked our holiday in October 2012, in the four weeks between seeing the holiday on the Thomson web site and booking our holiday it went up by £250.00 although Thomson paid no additional costs and do not even during the school holidays in July and August!

The same is true of the trips and excursions, all monopolised by Thomson, we went on two trips a 4x4 jeep excursion into the mountains and the Zeus boat trip both were good but at 69 euros per person for the jeep excursion this trip was expensive the 4x4s which were described as large were really only 5 seaters, six passengers + driver made this uncomfortable as two people had to sit in cramped child seats with no view whatsoever at the rear of the vehicle, we did take turns at sitting in the cramped seats but at 69 euros per person should you have to be cramped and have no sight of where you are or going?

The Zeus boat trip is a great day out for 30 euros great lunch well worth the money.

Since our last Greek holiday prices in Greece have risen, it is no longer a cheap place to holiday, we spent as much on food and drink as we did on paying for the holiday for the same money we could have gone all inclusive on long haul, all in all this is a great place to holiday and have no doubt that we shall return to both Golden Beach and the Blue Bay Hotel sometime In the future.

I would however look outside of the Eurozone before returning due to the exchange rate and the additional taxes now posted on Greek prices.

If you love great views but also hearing details of how every bathroom in every room it is used thats the best place to stay! They definetly should consider to invest in phonic isolation !
The breakfast area was lovely - a grass terrace with great view but the breakfast itself was average to poor, products with lots of preservatives (even the yoghurt!)...tap water for tea. Wondering how hard is it to serve some fresh good cheese on the land of the goats or a natural limonade ?! If you are somehow planning of getting up earlier (7 ish) and take a shower...or even at an hour when you supposed to be on the beach...better plan it now of getting a cold one .... there is an economical program for hot water! (not mentioned anywhere).
I believe wild nature in Thassos is 'Excellent' ....wonderful sea & mountains ... perfect air... lots of olive trees and pine forests and I thank for it ... As far as Blue Bay is concerned, it could embrace some good improvements as mentioned above and of course many other ideas of useful trip advisors ;0)

This was a late booking with Thomson and we were pleased to find a locally owned small B&B that only accepts adult bookings. Family run, it is kept spotlessly clean and the welcoming owners will do whatever they can to help you have a good time. The hotel is up a gentle hill about 10 minutes stroll from the beach and tavernas - this gives it the most fabulous view that we loved. The walk helps you digest the wonderful meals available in town and prevented me from putting on too much weight in a week!

This is a small Greek island, it is quiet and friendly, almost as though you have stepped back 20 years in time. Go for a peaceful, pleasant break, not for riotous nightlife. We had a brilliant time and if we were in the habit of returning to hotels, this would be high on the list (many others do return regularly)

Had such a lovely holiday, best thing about this hotel is the views - absolutely stunning. All of the rooms face the view as does the breakfast area/garden. They all also have balconies/terraces. The owners are very sweet and helpful, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is from 8:30-10 and they have a bar with toasties/salads available through until the evening (closed for a few hours in the afternoon).

Travelled with Thompson as a package and the rate is fantastic for what you get from the hotel. It's such a bonus to have breakfast included and a great way to start the day overlooking the views. Breakfast was a buffet of toast, eggs, jams, cheese, ham, yoghurt, fruit, granola, tea & coffee, juices.

The room was small but perfectly formed, all nice and clean, maid came once a day and towels replenished once during the week. Hair dryer, fridge, safe and TV were in the room. I think there was air-con which you can pay for if you want it but we didn't need it.

10-15 minute walk down the the beach and tavernas, the beach is gorgeous and very large. The walk isn't as bad as some people have made out, it's not like you're in any hurry, just take it easy and have a nice stroll! We walked all the way along the beach but the nicest end of it was definitely ours as it gets a bit rocky down the other end. Apparently it was the first week of the season when we went so not all of the shops/bars/tavernas were open yet but that was fine as there were enough for us and they all have so much variation. It was very quiet when we went which suited us perfectly. There are some watersport activities on offer further down the beach and there's lots of other things to explore on the island. We took a boat trip excursion from Thompson which was such good fun and a chance to see even more beautiful sights, they took us to a couple of other secluded beaches which really was paradise, swimming in crystal clear turquoise waters and white sand.

Weather was sunny and hot mostly with one cloudy day which we used to walk to a nearby town through the hills.

I've recommended the Blue Bay and Thassos to all of my friends/family who want to get away from their past paced life. Thank you Blue Bay!!!

A last minute decision and what a brilliant one. This hotel is perfect. Superb view, lovely owners who can't do enough for you but will leave you alone happily if that is what you want. Plenty of places to eat in the resort with fantastic food.

Great walks to nearby towns, if you want to be bothered. Sure, the walk to and from the hotel is a bit steep in places and I wouldn't recommend it if you struggle walking much but it's SO worthwhile.

And that's all I'm putting. I felt I wanted to write a review because it is so beautiful but I don't really want many people to find this gift of a place as we want to go back and find it the same! I will keep my raving about the hotel to my close circle. Selfish, I know.

Room Tip: All rooms sea-facing with balconies so doesn't matter which on you are in.

Alyson and Barry, Wakefield

First time to Thassos, we have spent many holidays in Greece, however not many will match this, the hotel is picture perfect, the people were lovely and friendly. what stunning views in such a stunning location. Plenty to do locally with a very good beech, really good food at reasonable prices, plenty of places to visit. The pace is up to you, from relaxing days to tour the whole island, but the hotel is a must, peaceful, relaxing, wonderful people who can't do enough to help, you need to book well in advance as its usually fully booked, not surprisingly.
