As so many other reviewers have said, the Blue Bay is quiet, friendly and well maintained. The owners and cleaning staff do an excellent job all round. Anna's husband who owns and works in the Macedonia supermarket (which I believe is the only currency exchange facility in the village) down in Skala Panagia also makes the time to have friendly words with the guests. We stayed in room 204 which is on the top level and didn't hear anything of the other guests - hope they couldn't hear us; no one complained thankfully! The hotel provides a couple of drinking mugs in the room but no kettle, so bring your own. You can hire use of the fridge for about the same cost as buying one. The room was clean and spacious enough for our needs; the views are amazing and relaxing. Breakfast was a 'healthy' experience. The walk up and down from the village can be a bit of a drag, especially when travelled up to six times per day. The bus service to and from Golden Beach is good and only 4 euros return to Thassos town passing by way of every narrow street in Panagia, educating though! Hotel apart, the real beauty was the countryside and views around Golden Beach; we walked the tracks and trails in the surrounding hills and mountains and barely saw a sole during the two weeks we were there. Everyone seems to stay on the beach....talking and smoking incessantly. It’s worth mentioning, as our stay was the last two weeks in August, that it is a popular holiday time with east Europeans. They are very family and tobacco orientated and do crowd (and fog) the beaches during the day and restaurants at night....loudly. Of the restaurants we visited, Finikas, which is situated between the two Skalas and near the campsite was the best by some margin. Good food excellently cooked and presented served by very friendly, hard working front of house staff.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms have slightly better views and obviously have no one above

Peaceful, quiet and friendly, the Blue Bay is ideal for people looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of Greece. All rooms have a fantastic view across the bay, are clean and have a balcony. Breakfast is good, with plenty of cereal, cheese, eggs, home-made cake, yoghourt etc.
This year we were on the top floor and (apart from some very noisy neighbours the first week) found it much quieter than last time. Some people don't realise that walking in high heels on marble floors or moving furniture around when they get in late can be quite noisy for the people underneath them.
Sadly we probably won't be able to go again as Thomson's wouldn't agree to having only half the hotel rooms and wanted them all. This would have meant that the owners were totally dependent on one company who could dictate terms and conditions. We wish Anna and Niki well in the future as they worked hard to make our holidays enjoyable and stress-free.

Room Tip: Best to go on the top floor as sounds from above can be quite loud at night.

I have just returned from staying at the Blue Bay for a week with my Husband, and i must say it was one of the nicest holidays i have been on the views are stunning.
Anna and her family could not have been more hospitable and the accomodation was perfect for our needs the breakfast was very nice with quite a bit of choice
We also met some lovely people while we were there
The only sad thing is that the Blue bay will not be going with thomson next year but i will try to book independently as i would love to stay at this hotel again

This is a small hotel with just 15 rooms, it is at the top of a steep winding hill which we would suggest you do not rush on a hot day! Landing at Kavala we travel by coach to the ferry port for the crossing to Thassos the crossing takes about 40mins, then back to the coach for the final trip to Golden Beach. Due to the width of the road, steepness of the hill and lack of turning space the final part of the transfer is by taxi.

We stayed on the ground floor in room 102, for two weeks, some may prefer to be higher as you do hear those above you, having said that it was nice to be able to speak with the other guests as and when they returned from the beach or a day out, we would say in this room again.
All rooms have a sea view and a balcony, the view of Golden Beach and Skala Panamia from the balconies and gardens of the hotel can only be described as stunning!

This is a very quiet hotel, rooms are fairly spacious and are cleaned and made up daily except on Saturdays due to most change overs being Sunday.
The breakfast is adequate as dictated by Thomson Holidays not the owners of the hotel, sadly Thomson Holidays have the monopoly in Thassos and some hotels are pulling out due to the low prices paid to them by Thomson!

This was our only gripe as the hotel get paid a flat rate throughout the season so why do Thomson's prices change on a daily basis? We booked our holiday in October 2012, in the four weeks between seeing the holiday on the Thomson web site and booking our holiday it went up by £250.00 although Thomson paid no additional costs and do not even during the school holidays in July and August!

The same is true of the trips and excursions, all monopolised by Thomson, we went on two trips a 4x4 jeep excursion into the mountains and the Zeus boat trip both were good but at 69 euros per person for the jeep excursion this trip was expensive the 4x4s which were described as large were really only 5 seaters, six passengers + driver made this uncomfortable as two people had to sit in cramped child seats with no view whatsoever at the rear of the vehicle, we did take turns at sitting in the cramped seats but at 69 euros per person should you have to be cramped and have no sight of where you are or going?

The Zeus boat trip is a great day out for 30 euros great lunch well worth the money.

Since our last Greek holiday prices in Greece have risen, it is no longer a cheap place to holiday, we spent as much on food and drink as we did on paying for the holiday for the same money we could have gone all inclusive on long haul, all in all this is a great place to holiday and have no doubt that we shall return to both Golden Beach and the Blue Bay Hotel sometime In the future.

I would however look outside of the Eurozone before returning due to the exchange rate and the additional taxes now posted on Greek prices.
