“Fantastic hotel that will make us break a rule”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Just back a few days from one week in the amazing Sunshine Vacation Club. We always have great all-inc experiences and this was the best we've ever had.

From the superb personal welcome when we arrived late in the evening to our departure, this holiday was fantastic.

The hotel is on a steep hillside. Three or more lifts get you from reception to the beach but there are steps. Calf muscles get too sore? There's a Spa with lovely friendly staff (who will negotiate on treatment prices).

Food is absolutely all-inc standard. Fresh and well prepared. The restaurant is well laid out, so even when busy, it is quiet and the waiting staff are excellent. There are several places to eat as well as a one night deal to eat in the Greek at the pool or the Italian outside reception.

We were always surprised at how many people appeared at mealtimes that we hadn't seen before. For a big hotel, it does not seem big and there are places and spaces if you like peace and quiet, peace and quiet and a pool, an activity pool, or the beach.

After trying all the sunbathing options, we spent most of our time at the activity pool where the animation team are based.

The LOOKEA animation team were the most professional team we've ever met. Always punctual and smiling and with a changing list of activities for people like me who get bored sitting around. Everything from fun games through to zoomba type classes as well as relaxation and stretching.
Their facilities, particularity the children's club were well designed and clean.

We read the Trip Advisor reviews before we booked, and so we expected predominantly French language (which neither of us speaks) and it was not a problem.
English is spoken as a second language and the LOOKEA team were always helpful. We choose holiday hotels (if we can) that are not filled with people from the UK and enjoy meeting people from other countries.

The day before we left, "Anne So" from the LOOKEA team told me (while we tried to make authentic Greek food) that on that day and for the next week, there were predominately non-French guests, so i guess the nationality balance must change over time.

The evening entertainment benefited from a French touch, the LOOKEA shows were delightfully different and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Lots of dancing and laughs. We went along every night. Sunday is changeover night so there is no show on that night, but a musician in the piano bar, and one night there was a traditional Greek group with dancers and amazing bouzouki player.

We had a bungalow. Solid, private and comfortable, with a beautiful balcony view. The room was very clean and cleaned every day. There is a fridge and a TV. There were plenty of power points and storage space, hair dryer etc.

The beach area is small and tour boats appear at the small jetty. You can also take bread to feed the fish in the clear waters. The water is so clear that I regret not buying a snorkel and mask early in the holiday. So many people were juts floating around in the shallow warm water looking at the small fish.
TIP: there is a small shingle band as you enter the sea before you stand on sand. Take rubber shoes for added comfort.
TIP: buy a snorkel and mask early in the holiday. You will get your money’s worth of fun from them.

As the holiday was such great value we treated ourselves to a Spa treatment or two. The spa is bright and peaceful and the treatment rooms have windows facing the sea. Spa treatments with the sound of the waves breaking on the beach? Idyllic. Loads of treatment options with discounts for couples and just if you ask! A gem of a place.

So to sum up, a perfect holiday chosen with the trip advisor review information in mind.
An excellent place to take kids (particularly kids learning french) and the first resort we have visited that would make is break our rule of never returning to the same resort twice.
We will be back.

Room Tip: Bungalows are furthest from the main hotel and Disco

i Absolutely love this hotel and the staff all bar about 2 of the club lookea reps who where ignorant and rude the entire time we were there. All bar them 2 every member of staff smiled and greeted us every day. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Although the bathrooms could do with a bit of TLC They were also very clean and smart. The views from the hotel are amazing and if you dont want to leave the hotel you dont have to.
A mini market that sells just about everything apart from nappies :(
food that was delicious you could eat all day if you wanted to!.
the Pools were stunning and well kept allbeit a tad cold!.
the Spa is such a great experience i went down and the staff were lovely so friendly the facilities are beautiful. The Only problem this Hotel is aimed at the french. Club Lookea who put on entertainment every night spoke 95% of the time in French leaving english families to feel a bit out of place. The french guests were rude and arrogant pushing into queues and just generally making a bad name for the french people.
Id Go again but maybe in an english holiday.
Otherwise what a hotel!

Room Tip: floors 5 and below lessen the noise from the entertainment which if you are looking for a goods nigh...

hotel built into hillside with bungalows in gardens (plenty of steps if you are in these) rooms are roomy and nice (comfy beds brilliant showers) food is ok ,plenty of choice (could be a lot warmer).
staff are friendly but very french orientated ,as is the entertainment.
nowhere really to walk to from hotel just a couple of tavernas(a car would be a good option)
probably wouldnt go here again but would try another hotel in this chain on a different island.ideal if you want a chilling time.

Room Tip: rooms in main hotel on 8th floor lead out to private terrace by the pool

We visited this amazing hotel during Easter time 2014, because the weather was not so nice we couldn't enjoy all the facilities, though there are some huge swimming pools , a perfect private beach and a spa pretty nice. It is located in the center of the most beautiful part of the island so it is easy to visit the spectacular beaches and villages around.
The food was ok, and the staff at the reception and all around very friendly and helpful , the only thing I didn't like was that our room wasn't as clean as I would like to be! And when I asked for a clean towel (because the one they gave me was dirty ) it took all day to bring it to me.
I believe also that a 5 star hotel ( as they like to call it ) should have slippers , bathrobe and of course some better soap and shower gel.
I would go again !!!

Room Tip: Select sea view room

We went in September and had a wonderful holiday. We had a fantastic room that opened out onto the relaxing pool and with a stunning sea view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The manageress was always around in the restaurant at meal times to check that everything was OK. The hotel was clean and the food was great - plenty of choice. .some people found the wasps in September a problem - but this could hardly be helped. There were a lot of French tourist there and the entertainment team were French - but we didn't find this a problem. We had a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for level 8 room opens onto the relaxing pool - you have your own private patio area.

We had a super week here - it was a perfect combination of noisy (low level pool with awful disco all day!) and quiet (top pool with adults and v little noise). The place was very clean albeit a little outdated.
The food was terrific - amazing salads, plenty of bread , fruit, meat and fish - though a fortnight may become a bit repetitive. Only criticisms: bar staff very unfriendly and the attached restaurant didn't get our booking - these things happen but the maître d was very rude.

The hotel itself was great but the overall holiday was very poor.

Arrival: The hotel is close to the airport so did not take too long to get to the hotel.
When we arrived we were greeted with a nice drink and as we were so hungry the staff let us eat at the restaurant before we even checked in!

Room: The room was very nice, nothing spectacular but nice. Only one problem, as there is no window in the bathroom there was no air coming in and the drain smelt a little bit. We put a towel over it to stop the smell. Our room was a little trek from the beach/pool and restaurant - so not ideal for people who find it difficult to walk but there are rooms closer.
There were lots of stairs so you have to be careful if you had one to many drinks.

Restaurant: There was plenty of choice! I found the food to be very good, the only downside was the WASPS! They were everywhere and were flying around the food.

Views: The views are AWESOME! You could not ask for more!

Pool: Were very nice buy very cold.

Entertainment: All in French (we are from the UK)

The hotel is located in the middle of NOWHERE! and we got very bored. Down the road were a few shops. Everything is very expensive!

Not a good place to visit if you like going out and visiting places.
Good place if you want to stay at the hotel and not go anywhere.

You can get a bus from down the road if you wanted to.

Day trips: We went to Albania for the day - AVOID AVOID! There was not much to see apart from the ruins, which were nice but the lady doing the tours was very depressing and said many times that they need more tourism. When we got off the coach I was harassed by children, who pulled my hair and were emotionally blackmailing me to buy their items. When I didn't then switched and started being nasty.

Once back in the town we were given food to eat and after that I had tummy problems for at least 2 months. We were then again collard by beggars and one really got in my face.
I would never go back again.

We also went Corfu town and I found the shop assistants very rude and I hate to say it but I could of hit of them as they were very very rude. She was saying things like we made her nervous and we should get out of her shop. I was absolutely disgusted!
Other shops you went into, they expected you to buy something and if you didn't they would get funny. I was fed up in the end and wanted to leave.

Would I go back? No!

Room Tip: Lots of stairs so when you book ask for one close to the restaurant.
